This was a crucial match that could have gone either way and would determine how our season goes.
The match started tightly and with our main goalkeeper no where in sight. Spanton stepped in at the start, with no pads, gloves, trousers and gallantly saved as many shots as he could unprepared. After about 10 minutes of pressure we finally conceded a goal that Spanton was unable to stop. Just after the goal was scored Dave turned up and we focused on trying to claw back the deficit. I had one goal disallowed after a short corner from Andy and a left foot shot into the bottom corner beating the keeper, but the ref said it went out (which it didn’t). At half time we were still losing.
The 2nd half started and we played a bit better, with James C & James S both scoring nice goals to put us into the lead. Alas we couldn’t hold into this with BOTN FC scoring a decent goal and us gifting them the winner with Dave throwing it to Martin in front of our goal, needless to say he scored. I was not sure about the ref in this game, as he seemed to be a bit one sided towards BOTN FC.
Overall this was an unfair defeat, when a 2 -2/3 - 3 draw would have been a fair result. Hopefully we will win our next 4 and have a chance of promotion. |
