This week we played the White Lions, one of the teams we will play against when the new league starts. This week we tried a new formation and it made us a look a bit better, but there is still room from improvement.
The first half started well with us being tight at the back and clearing our lines well, but despite this we conceded a sloppy goal to go behind. From then on we pressed forward and got a reward, a well worked goal from open play by Paul (Yes, I did say open play). The rest of the half was quite even and half time we were level.
In the 2nd half we were the dominant side pressing forward and creating chances, whilst also defending strongly. Although we defended well, we did have some lapses in concentration, but far fewer than in previous weeks. With only 1 minute to go we took a corner, they counter attacked and scored the winning goal.
Overall a good performance, which shows we are making progress. Next week we play in a 3rd/4th place playoff and hopefully should do alright. |
