This was our first ever match against the Wingnuts, after their promotion into this division.
We didn’t start the match brightly and after 6 minutes or so we were 4 – 0 down, mainly due to sloppy passes which left one on one chances; the Wingnut players finished these chances well. This half turned when Dave started coming out making a 5th player on pitch, which culminated for the opening goal, after passing to me, I hit the ball first time and it nestled in the top corner. The rest of the half us consisted of us playing better, with Andy and Paul scoring a couple each to go in at half time 6 – 5 down.
The 2nd half started as we played the end of the first and were the better side. We created numerous chances, with Tom hitting the post twice, before finally scoring from centre, a couple form Andy and two cracking goals from Coley (one of his left buttock and the other a tap in from 2 inches). This half we played better and showed why we are in this division.
Overall a sloppy start, but a good ending to the match. Everyone played well, especially Coley with his two wonder strike sand constant tracking of players during critical times. |
