The Phalange Perspective

As surely the most underrepresented (if represented at all) group on the internet and international media, this page will be different from the Palestinian and Israeli Perspective pages because virtually no media could be uncovered in defense of the Phalange's actions. It is likely that the Phalange does not even defend itself and rather hopes that history will eventually forget the massacres at Sabra and Shatila. Even if this does not occur, the Phalange are in no need of defense, as their composition during the massacres was largely (except for the commanding officers) unidentified, a ragtag arrangement of various Maronites who, after the week of the massacres, returned to their various villages without a trace…

In order to offer the Phalange Perspective along with the Palestian and the Israeli perspectives, I conducted a phone interview with a former Phalange militiaman. This interview offers a glimpse into the mindset of the militia in addition to fascinating background information on Lebanon, the conflicts, as well as opinions on the Israelis and the Palestinians from the perspective of the Maronite.
