Three years ago while Shawn Michael had just started putting himself back through college he realized that his ten-year high school reunion was coming up. Like so many others that graduated in his class he went to a popular website called “classmates” and put up his profile on the website to try and reconnect with old friends, from his high school days that he lost touch with over the years. Before he knew it he was chatting with quite a few of his old friends. One of those friends he started chatting with was Lori, who he used to have classes with and that used to hang out with Shawn Michael and some of this other friends back in the day. At this time Lori was seeing this guy Dewayne who lived out in Riverside. Dewayne was good friends with his neighbors Laura and Shirley. Dewayne, Lori, Laura and Shirley all become friends they would all go out dancing and hang out with each other. One day Lori and Laura were talking and Laura asked if she knew of any good-looking single guys that she could introduce her to or that would maybe like to go out with her. Lori told Laura about this real good-looking friend of hers that she reconnected with before their high school reunion. She also told Laura that he was a Bull Rider. Laura’s interest peaked when she found out that this friend of Lori’s was a Cowboy. The next day Shawn Michael received an email from Lori asking him to resend his Internet picture site to her cause that she wanted to show it to a friend of hers. He was curious, who could she being showing these pictures to? The site was nothing but just a bunch of pictures of him riding bulls, horses, and a few pictures of him and his friends. But being that he always believed taking chances or risks he resent the site to Lori and hoped that she was showing the picture site to a good looking woman. A day later Shawn Michael got an email saying “nice pictures”. So he wrote back to the admirer and asked who she was. She introduced herself and said her name was Laura. Shawn Michael even more curious emailed her back. They emailed each other sending pictures and little messages to one another for a short time, until they started calling each other. Then one day Laura called up Shawn Michael and asked if he was busy cause she wanted to come by and visit him. He told her that he would be home and if she wanted to come by she could. He kept a lookout the front window for her to show up this was the very first time that they would meet face to face. He was excited and curious but not really getting any hopes up. Laura showed up with her friend Shirley and welcomed them both in. During the conversation Shawn Michael and Laura seemed to be hitting it off, but some things that Laura liked to do such as going out to the clubs and dancing did not go over to well with him. Shawn Michael had worked part time as a bouncer in the country bars and night clubs for quite a few years and he was over and done with that whole scene. But other than that he liked her and figured that he would still give her a chance and maybe just date her but nothing serious. He figured that she really wasn’t what he was looking for but seemed like she would be fun to spend time with. Time passed and Shawn Michael and Laura called and emailed each and got to know one another more and more. Then at Shawn Michael’s 29th birthday Laura surprised him by showing up when she said she was going to be out of town. He was very surprised and excited to see her. Shawn Michael and Laura kissed for the first time that night. From that night the two of them started taking more of an interest in each other. Laura would go over to his house all the time and spend time with him and helping him with his studying and writing papers. Laura spent as much time with Shawn Michael as she could before she left on vacation to Montana to visit her parents. The thing that Laura did not tell him was that the point of her vacation was not just to visit her parents but to also find a job there. Laura was planning on moving there, but did not expect to fall for Shawn Michael like she did. A couple of weeks later Laura came back to California and immediately went to visit Shawn Michael. She knew when she saw him that changing her mind not stay in Montana was the right choice, she knew that she came back for the right reasons. Shawn Michael was happy and excited to see her again and realized that he wanted to be with her and no one else. He cut all ties with some of the other woman that he was dating and focused on the two of them. Things were going good for them both and they were very happy together. Then one day a situation came up that left Laura in a huge dilemma that would cause her to have to move even further away to stay with her sister and brother-in-law. Shawn Michael knew that is she moved further away he would never get to see her. He knew that because he was in school and did not have the time or money to make it out to where she was going to be moving that it would end. Shawn Michael knew that he had found someone special. He knew that there was a reason that God put her into his life and he refused to let is slip away. Shawn Michael asked Laura to move in with him and they have been together ever since that day. A lot of time has passed from that day, in October 2004 while Shawn Michael was at a Sankey Rodeo Training School in Rio Linda California, which is over 400 mile and 6 hours away he realized how much he missed her and how much he did not like to be away from her. He took this trip to get away from everyone and focus on only him and his Bull Riding. But he could not shake how much he missed his love. He realized how much he really loved Laura and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So, for two and half months he planned and saved for Christmas. Then on Christmas Day 2004 with Laura’s fathers permission and in front of his parents, grandparents and with the help of his little brother. Laura stood in front of the Christmas Tree Shawn Michael came in and kneeled down asked Laura to marry him…to be continued |
