360 Degree |
Number Name Date Posted (Day/Month/Year) |
Spinning in 360 Degree. Look simple but maybe hard to master. The 360 Degree Family are tricks such as Index Spin and Middle Spin. They spin one round (360 Degree), around your finger. You have to take note of the force exerted during the start and also the controlling of the pen when spinning around your finger. Consist of few variations and tricks, and they are not as popular as compared to the Thumbspin and Sonic Family. |
1. Index Spin - 22/03/03 A trick spinning 360 Degree around the Index finger. 2. Index Spin Reverse - 22/03/03 A reverse motion of Index Spin. 3. Index Spin Harmonic - 25/08/02 Continuous trick of both Index Spin Normal and Reverse. A challenging trick especially performing it continuously. 4. Index Spin Reverse Half - 25/08/02 Similar to Index Spin Reverse but is in half rotation. 5. Middle Spin - 03/11/02 Starting position at the middle and ring finger. The Middle Spin goes 360 Degree around the middle finger and the catch is same as the starting position. Similar to Index Spin but more difficult to perform as you need to keep your index finger further away from pen to prevent your index finger from blocking pen while doing the trick. |
Fingerpass |
Pen going up and down your fingers. Easy to learn, but hard to master.(Meaning to do it fast and smooth.) Fingerpass and Sonic are kind of similar to each other as both families make full use of the fingers. But both of them requires completely different method and skills to master them. In Fingerpass, the tricks are not easy to master compared to Sonic. Fingerpasses can be real frustrating tricks to learn and to master. Why? This is because, unlike Sonic, in the Sonic Family, tricks are very easy to learn as Sonic can be done very comfortably once you mastered them. Its like, 'Whoah, Sonic looks so cool and easy to perform.' But for Fingerpasses, its not easy to perform. When you overdone Fingerpasses, you were surely have feeling of fingers being 'tangled', which is uncomfortable. Also, when Fingerpass Family compared to Sonic Family, they do not look as cool as Sonic. Fingerpasses only goes up and down your fingers with a very common motion while Sonics goes up and down your fingers in a beautiful circular motion. |
1. Fingerpass Normal - 22/03/03 Pen going in a clockwise rotation. 2. Fingerpass Reverse - 22/03/03 My first trick learnt. Its a reverse pattern of Fingerpass Normal. 3. Fingerpass Harmonic - 25/08/02 A combo that i thought of. Consist of half of the Fingerpass Normal and half of the Fingerpass Reverse. 4. Fingerpass 2x Normal - 25/08/02 One of my creations. The idea of this trick comes from Sonic 2x. All the Fingerpass 2x tricks must be done by holding the pen at its extreme end. 5. Fingerpass 2x Reverse - 25/08/02 The reverse motion of Fingerpass 2x Normal. 6. Fingerpass 2x Harmonic - 25/08/02 A very easy trick to master. 7. Drumer - 14/01/03 The second half of Fingerpass Normal. But the ending position is caught between the thumb and index finger. A real drumer should be done smoothly and fast. |
Charge |
Relatively easy to learn. The pen just spin 360 Degree continuously. Look like a circle if done well. Will feel a small 'wind' beside your hand if you are able to spin it fast. Charge Family are neighbour of the Sonic Family. This is because, Charges and Sonics can be easily linked into combos. To perform a good Charge, only one finger is suppose to move and the other should act as a stand/ support. If your whole hand need to move to do a Charge, then the Charge is unsuccessful. |
1. Charge Normal 2-3 - 22/03/03 Spinning between your Middle and Ring fingers in a clockwise direction continuously. 2. Charge Normal 1-2 - 25/08/02 Another variations of Charge Normal. Spinning between your Index and Middle fingers in a clockwise direction continuously. 3. Charge Reverse 1-2 - 22/03/03 Reverse pattern of Charge Normal 1-2. |
Others |
Tricks that doesn't fall under any families were be categorised under 'others'. Tricks like SideSpin and other miscellaneous tricks have very little relatives. Therefore they belong to the Others Family. They maybe unique or worth performing, or completely useless tricks depending on how you want them to be. Sometimes, these miscellaneous tricks can be the easiest to link into your combos! So don't ever look down on any tricks. No tricks in pen spinning is useless. Every single tricks are useful. |
1. SideSpin - 22/03/03 This trick spin 360 Degree beside the thumb, which means that it does not spin around the thumb. Similar to SideSpin Half except that a little more force is needed. 2. SideSpin Half - 22/03/03 I thought of this trick when I was thinking of Thumbspin Reverse 0.5 aka Half Taps. I wanted to make a Half Thumbspin but of course... it seems to be impossible. ( Correct me if I'm wrong :] ) So in the end, I came out with a SideSpin Half. The pen spin half a rotation beside my thumb. This trick looks a little weird. I don't know how to explain on doing it. From what I know, I used very small amount of energy to hit my pen with my Middle finger. If needed, I will move my Thumb a little upwards. 3. SideSpin Half Continuous - 25/08/02 Same trick as SideSpin Half but in a continuous motion. SideSpin Half was already difficult to perform, continuous of the trick would need to have very good control on amount of energy exerted. 4. 2 Pens Sonic Rise - 13/10/02 Sonic Rise performed using 2 pens. Not an amazing trick though. Categorised under 'others' since its a 2 Pens trick. 5. OC Fingerpass - 16/02/03 OC meaning Open and Closing Technique. A small example of using OC Technique to open and close your pen. Combining pen spinning moves into opening the cap of the pen. In this case, the OC is the Fingerpass. 6. OC Foward 1.5 - 16/02/03 Using OC Technique of Forward 1.5. |
Wiper |
Wiper got its name from the idea of the car screen wiper (the thing which wipe the car screen when raining). The trick looks similar to a car screen wiper and can be link to other tricks. A very nice and simple trick for beginners to learn. In Wiper Family, the tricks are commonly linked to the Thumbspin Family to create combos. Wiper Family are minority which are not very popular to pen spinners and are not widely used. |
1. Wiper Normal - 17/11/02 Basically, the starting position is between the index finger and the thumb. The pen is held in a vertical way. Then use your middle finger to push the pen upwards, and meanwhile change then the index finger to the middle finger and your index finger should give way to the pen. The ending position would be the pen held between the index finger and the thumb in a horizontal way. Wiper does a 270 Degree Clockwise spin. 2. Wiper Reverse - 17/11/02 I invented this trick first and then Wiper Normal. Wiper Reverse is much more easier to understand I would say. The starting position is between the index finger and the thumb. The pen is held in a horiztonal way. Use your middle finger and push the tip of the pen downwards. Wiper Reverse does a 270 Degree Counter-Clockwise spin. 3. Wiper Harmonic - 17/11/02 A continuous combo of Wiper Normal and Wiper Reverse. |
