Cuz we're human...we often don't take responsiblity for our choices....but in order to move toward some real change...we have to understand what's happening with SIN, and how it affects us...
The big book...(the Bible)...tells us in Rm. 3:23- "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." |

Because of sin (yech!)....we're seperated from God. Might seem like what the?!? Why would God create people who are seperated from him by sin?!?!? but because God is sooo kewl! he's given us the free will to choose or not choose Him. He wants to spend eternity, forever....with those of us who want to spend it with Him! So being the kewl guy that he is....he doesn't force himself on us, but is always waiting for us to accept him! I mean isn't that awesome? who does that now a days? whose there to wait with open arms? He's always there....he's been there in the past...he's waiting now....and he'll be there in the future....waiting for you to make that decision.
If we don't deal with our sin....we're only living in a state of denial....in reality sin has an eternal consequence. back to the big book...-Hb. 9:27 "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement"
In reality there's a pretty huge gap between us and god....now you're probably wondering...how can i fix this gap? well...
Since we're seperated from God by sin, and since he loves us so much (check out Jn. 3:16 in a bible), he came to earth and took the form of a man...named Jesus....now he took all the punishment for our sins...and well he's the one and only bridge we have over that gap between man and God! |

The only thing that's required for accepting Christ is just simply CHOOSING to believe in Him. believe it or not...but that choice has always been there! That's how loving GOD IS! You just have to decide this on your own...no one else can make this choice but yourself. It's one simple choice that will give you eternal benefits!
once again the bible says in Jn. 1:12 "to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God"
Rev. 3:20 says "Here I am? I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will go in"
God's always there waiting for you! so by praying this simple little prayer...you can bridge that gap between man and God.
"God, I just wanna say that i realized that i'm a sinner....and that you sent your son Jesus to die for my sins on the cross...Please forgive me. I accept your gift of eternal life...and I invite you into my life. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and show me who you are and how I can know you better...I want to follow you from now on Lord! I ask all this in Jesus' name...Amen"
Did you just pray this prayer? I would love to hear about it. |

So now you say..."now what?"
well...after accepting Christ into your heart...it doesn't mean it's all over...Being a Christian is about a relationship with God. Through your own willingness the Holy Spirit will begin to change you. He will guide you and give you direction in your daily lives...and the only thing you have to do is be willing to listen and ask God to teach you.
A physical body needs food to grow....well your spirit needs to be fed too...without continual spiritual nourishment...your spiritual life will wither away...Here's some ways to keep it fed:
Join Other Christians:
Go to a church that cares....one that will challenge your sin with God's Word.
Pray and Read The Bible:
Prayer is often misunderstood...it doesn't have to be at a certain time...or done a certain way...simply prayer...is a when you talk to God as a friend...telling him your problems...asking him for help...etc etc...you can do it anytime...and He's always there listening.... Reading the bible is a way God talks to us..its filled with a lot of His wisdom and insights and is a living book.
Share:
Don't keep this a secret! share it with others! They might need to hear about the truth! and make the same decision! or maybe they'll be able to help and encourage you in your new commitment. Being involved with other believers is important...its another way that God uses to reach us. |
