| What We Can Do To Help... |
| Saving this planet from the destructiveness of the human species is not easy. One person might give up hope when they see the world around them falling apart and no one seems to care. When I was growing up my mother tried so hard to save the earth. She taught us to fight for what we believed in and to care about the world around us. As a child I read "GreenPeace For Kids" and dreamed of a life in the peace corps. In my teen years though things got tough and it became harder and harder for me to ignor the jests of my friends when I would join a protest or put up a sign against animal cruelty or boycottt McDonalds. I lost the bravery to fight for what I believed in. Then one day something came along so huge I couldn't turn my back. Bush declared WAR for OIL. Now I am here to thank my mother for her teachings. The truth is that one voice can make a difference. I wrote senators and went to peace rallys. I wrote anti war essays and put them on the internet. | Some Companies to Boycott and Why |
| Nike: They support sweat shops, and child labor. It costs Nike less than two dollars to make a pair of Nikes. They charge usually 60+ dollars. The only people who see that money are the rich fat white executives of Nike. McDonalds: They use south American rainforest land to graze their beef rather than using American land. Why? Because it saves them money to kill the Rainforests. Gillette: They perform cruel and painful tests on animals in the name of science and beauty. |
| Don't Support War: Senseless violence is not what Jesus would want. Recycle: The saved energy from one recycled tin acn can run your tv for an hour. Compost: leftover food scraps make very good fertilizer in your garden. Garden Organicly: Pesticides don't just kill the bugs, and there are many organic ways to get rid of pests. High pitched noises for instance gets rid of most grubs, human hair will gets rid of slugs. There are many ways. Boycott: Many companies do things that hurt the planet. Boycotting is using your voice. Don't Eat or Buy Veal: Veal is from a calf that never leaves a tiny crate where it is not allowed to move more than a few inches it's whole short life. It's muscles atrophy so that even if it were set free it would never be able to walk. |
