I began my career in dogs at the tender age of 12 yrs. Being from
the "Lassie" generation, I begged my parents for a Collie. They
compromised, not wanting "all that hair", and brought home a Shepherd-Mix puppy.
(Little did they know the "hair" problem would be worse!)
"Heidi" was my first venture into the world of obedience.
Training her myself from articles I read in all the dog magazines, she lovingly put up
with my antics and unreasonable demands. Not until I was married and on my own, did
I finally purchase that longed-for Collie.
I was just getting my feet wet showing and breeding, when the
Shetland Sheepdog caught my attention. The purchase of my first Sheltie 20 years ago
began a life long love affair with the breed. |
