Why Essential Oils Are Essential? Many Essential Oils repel virus, bacteria, and other microbes. What Are Essential Oils? Essential oil are the subtle, aromatic and volatile liquids extracted from the flowers, seeds, leaves, stems, bark and roots of herbs, bushes, shrubs, and trees, through distillation. According to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, priests and physicians were using essential oils thousands of years before Christ to heal the sick. They are the oldest form of remedies and cosmetics known to man and were considered more valuable than gold. There are 188 references to oils in the Bible. Science is only now beginning to investigate the incredible healing properties of essential oils. The Properties of Essential Oils Pure Essential Oils Have Very High Frequency. The effectiveness of Essential Oils cannot be fully understood without some discussion of frequency. Frequency is the measurable rate of electrical energy flow that is constant between any two points. Everything has frequency. In his book The Body Electric, Dr. Robert O. Becker establishes that the human body has an electrical frequency and that much about a person's health can be determined by the person's frequency. In 1992, Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology, an independent division of Eastern State University in Cheney, Washington, built the first frequency monitor in the world. Tainio determined that the average frequency of the human body during the daytime is 62 to 68 MHz. (A healthy body frequency is (62 - 72 MHz.) When the frequency drops, the immune system is compromised. If the frequency drops to 58 MHz, cold and flu symptoms appear. At 55 MHz, diseases like Candida take hold; at 52 MHz, Epstein-Barr and at 42 MHz, Cancer. According to Dr. Royal R. Rife, every disease has a frequency. He found that certain frequencies can prevent the development of disease and that others would destroy disease. Substances with higher frequency will destroy diseases of lower frequency. The study of frequencies raises an important question about the frequencies of the substances we eat, breathe, and absorb. Many pollutants lower healthy frequency. Processed/canned food has a frequency of ZERO!! The frequency of fresh produce is only 15 MHz, dry herbs from 12 to 22 MHz and fresh herbs from 20 to 27 MHz. Essential Oils start at 52 MHz and go as high as 320 MHz, which is the frequency if rose oil. Essential Oils Are Aromatic. Essential Oils are highly aromatic and therefore, many of the benefits can be obtained by simply inhaling them. This can be done by breathing in the fragrance from the bottle, or they can be diffused into the room. When diffused, Essential Oils can be the best air filtration system in the world. They will: (1) Purify, by removing metallic particles and toxins from the air. (2) Increase atmospheric oxygen. (3) Increase ozone and negative ions in the house, which inhibits bacteria growth. (4) Destroy odors from mold, cigarettes, and animals. (5) Fill the air with a fresh, herbal aromatic scent. http://www.aromanotes.com/01/why.html |

Welcome to this page which will explore Aromatherapy and how it has impacted my life. To many of you this will be old information. Hopefully, to some of you the things shared here will be new and exciting. It is my desire that everyone will find something that resonates with them. Also, there are many wonderful books on Aromatherapy and Essential Oils. Why re-invent the wheel? LOL This is just a smathering of a very comprehensive subject that I share from my heart to yours. INTRODUCTION: Mother Nature has her own unique, fragrant pharmacy awaiting your discovery. Nature has powerful aromatic liquid substances known as "essential oils" extracted from certain species of flowers, grasses, fruits, leaves, roots, and trees. These concentrated liquids are indispensable to medicine, and to the food and cosmetic industries. These powerful oils are also essential for all those most common ailments of the mind, body, and spirit ever present in this fast-paced world. All who have studied essential oils and them with understanding come to respect their ability to operate effectively not only on the cellular, physical level, but in the emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and aesthetic areas of our lives also. They provide a "total biochemical harmony with the human body. . .[which is] non-invasive to it in terms of heat and electromagnetism. In addition, their delivery system is so efficient that chemical drugs are made to look crude by comparison." (The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy, by Valerie Ann Worwood.) "Essential oils are one of the great untapped resources of the world. Here we have a system of natural help that is far more than a system of medicine that can prevent illness and alleviate symptoms. These extremely complex precious liquids are extracted from very specific species of plant life and are in harmony with people and planet alike. By taking essential oils into our lives we find a way to provide our family and home with the protection and pleasure they need without polluting ourselves or our environment with chemicals." (Ibid.) DISCLAIMER: My discoveries concerning essential oils/Aromatherapy are in no way intended to take the place of treatment by a medical practitioner. Before undergoing any health care regimen or in treating any health condition yourself, even one as profoundly subtle as Aromatherapy, it is wise to check with a qualified health care practitioner, or Aromatherapist. The statements made here are what have worked for me and worked for my friends. Ones reaction to smells are highly personal, and may change from day to day. Enjoy making your own discoveries. Perhaps the things discussed here will prove a catalyst to spur you on to your own adventures. *Big Sighs* Now, that about covers everything, and protects you and me! *chuckles* ART OF AROMATHERAPY: For centuries peoples have harnessed the magic of essential oils to enhance every aspect of their health and well-beingness. Many of the ways in which essential oils can be utilized take no special equipment, and can be found easily in your kitchen cupboards (or at your friendly Dollar Store, :D) Atomizers (sprays/spritzers) Use glass, not plastic; distilled or purified water, not tap. Add 3-6 drops of essential oil to every ounce of water. Make up only enough for immediate use, and refill as needed. It can be used to fragrance a room or refresh the face. Baths Fill the bath with comfortably hot water, carefully dispersing 6-12 drops of your chosen oil BEFORE entering. You might also like to apply some blended massage oil before getting into your bath. Footbaths First, find an appropriate receptacle that will accomodate your feet, :) Fill with warm to hot water, adding 4-8 drops of essential oil and mixing well. Slide in them tootsies and soak for about 15 minutes. Refreshing! Sitz baths This is a good method for treating specific, localized owies. Fill a large bowl (or the bottom of the tub, depending on the location of the owie) with hot or cool to tepid water, adding 6-8 drops of essential oil and mixing well, BEFORE soaking the affected area. Compresses Fill a bowl with cold or hot water, being careful to thoroughly mix 3-12 drops of essential oils. Using a cotton cloth, washcloth, or small towel -- place in the water and squeeze out, and apply to the area needing the compress. Usually it is recommended that heat, or hot compresses, be used for arthritis, neuralgia, and muscle aches. Cold or cool compresses are traditionally used for headaches, bruises, eye aches, and tension. Leave the compress on until it reaches body temperature -- approximately twenty minutes. Direct Application This is rarely recommended, except in the use of lavender and tea tree oil, which can be applied directly to the wound, or injured area. Vaporizers (fragrancers/burners/diffusers) These containers have a receptacle at the top, and a hole at the bottom which holds a candle. Fill the receptacle with hot water, adding 5-15 drops of essential oil. The candle will keep the water hot, releasing the fragrance. Be careful to replace your water/oil mix, for if it evaporates completely, it will leave a sticky mess in the bottom of the receptacle. Massage Oils Add the chosen essential oil to a base carrier oil to use for beauty treatments or for massage. Add 10-25 drops of essential oil to 2 ounces of the chosen base carrier. Store in a tightly sealed, dark glass bottle in a cool place, and shake well before each use. Base Carrier Oils Essential oils are so powerful and so concentrated they are best diluted in a base carrier oil to enhance their penetrating power. CAUTION: mineral oils are not recommended. It is best to use unprocessed, unrefined, cold-processed fruit, vegetable, nut or seed oils. Base carrier oils: avocado-a rich, heavy oil usually added to other base oils to aid penetration. Recommended for dry skin. Other recommendations: evening primrose, dry skin; grapeseed, massage; hazelnut, slightly astringent and for oily skin; jojoba is really a liquid wax and turns rancid rapidly, used for face and hair; olive, a strong, aromatic oil combined with other base oils; peach or apricot kernel, for mature, sensitive and/or dry skin; safflower, sunflower & sweet almond, good for all skin types; vitamin E, good for facial use, and good when mixed with sweet almond to activate penetration; wheatgerm, to rich and heavy so mix 10% with any blend to prevent oxidation and rancidity, and to provide vitamin E -- nourishing for mature and dry skin. ESSENTIAL NOTES: Isn't it marvelous that these concentrated, powerful, magical essential oils should be classified in groups of different notes! Can you see the common thread from the Ancient of Days and the whole host of Angelic Choirs gifting us this miracle of healing energies? In the Universe everything has its own vibration. Why, even your very name and date of birth has its own musical score, :) Every living thing in Nature has its own song. So, it is very special to me that essential oils are divided into top, middle, and base notes. Top notes are the fastest acting and quickest to evaporate, lasting 3-24 hours. These are the most stimulating and uplifting oils. These include: basil, beramot, clary sage, eucalyptus, fennel, grapefruit, lemon, lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary, & tea tree. The middle notes are moderately volatile, lasting 2-3 days, and affect the metabolism and body functions. These include: chamomile, cypress, geranium, hyssop, juniper, lavender, melissa, orange, petitgrain, pine, rose, tangerine, & thyme. The base notes are slower to evaporate, lasting up to one week, and are the most sedating and relaxing. These include: cedarwood, frankincense, jasmine, marjoram, myrrh, neroli, orange, patchouli, sandalwood, & ylang ylang. COMMON ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR EFFECT: |
