December

The trees outside are swaying
As the breeze rolls in,
And the moon is duller
Than it's ever been.
Another cold December night
Without you by my side,
And I keep asking myself,
"How will I survive?"
A howling permeates the night,
The sound from far away;
I hug my jacket to myself
And will myself to stay,
Watching as the tide rolls in
From the dark black sea,
And, as it hits the cold damp sand,
My rolling tears increase.
The howling and the crashing waves,
The swift and frigid breeze,
Are mingled together as one,
Loud, like a scream.
I reach my hand into the night
At the melancholy sound,
Then utter your name and sob,
Collapsing on the ground.
Another cold December night
Without you by my side,
And I keep asking myself...
"How will I survive?"
