Deluded
By: SheridanCraneFitzgerald@hotmail.com

Your heartbeat drums in my ears,
My fingers splayed across your chest.
Woe, but if it were real --
I want for nothing less.
I can imagine such a thing,
Unshed tears glistening in my eyes.
I'd bite my lip while trying to
Force a failing smile.
The darkness of this room
While moonlight slants inside,
Casting a sliver of light
Over my bedside.
I try not to dream,
But they've been alluded to.
I think I'm deluded, too.
I shouldn't succumb to such fantasies.
But I do.
