If I Could
By: SheridanCraneFitzgerald@hotmail.com

If I could, I'd turn back
The hands of time,
To regain the childlike innocence
That once was mine.
Even knowing, later on,
I'd lose my purity,
I'd savor it and cradle it.
Love it delicately.
If I could, I'd give the world
To obtain my innocence.
But there's no going back to it:
It shows in my ignorance.
If I could have only foreseen
Just what was to come,
I'd hold both innocence and purity,
Put aside my pride,
And run.
