Books, Glass, Robin & Marian,...  Sherron
IMPORTANT NOTE 5/2006: Yes, my Women in the Middle Ages site is sorely in need of updating. However, the IT Department at the University of Houston has made more changes and, while I can get to the pages, I cannot upload anything. When this is straightened out, I will update the pages -- and let you know here. Thank you for your patience.     Sherron

Welcome to my site!  I'm a medievalist, literary scholar, and librarian who moved to Houston, Texas, to marry the man I love, but am mostly from Georgia and have also called Knoxville, Tennessee, home.

My husband and I met at a medieval studies conference in 1996.  We didn't know then that a conference-and-letters friendship would deepen into love.... I moved to Houston in the fall of 1999 and we were married -- in a lovely outdoor ceremony -- in January of 2000.  I waited my whole life for Henry, and he's worth it!

We're both collectors; currently, he collects vintage paperback books, but I've gotten him interested in some vintage glass, as well.  From the time I was a child, I've loved glass tableware, accessories, and art, and finally began collecting vintage glass in 2000.  Henry and I are members of the Houston Glass Club, and help out with the Club's annual Antique Glass Show & Sale in August.  We've also joined the new (2004) Glass Collector's Club of Houston.  I've recently succumbed to the lure of vintage china, as well.

Of course, we're both also big readers and researchers.  In addition to things medieval, literary, and historical, we both read some fantasy.  We also read mysteries.  Henry particularly likes hard-boiled, while I'm especially fond of history, culinary, classic, and book-related mysteries.  Maid Marian, of the Robin Hood legends, is one of my major ongoing research projects.

Henry and I finally own a house -- or does it own us?!  No children, no pets, "just" each other and our stuff.  We love each other and our families and friends, and pray for peace:  let us all live and let live!
