Did you know that Valentines Day was originally named after wolves?  The modern tradition of romantic greetings on February 14th originated with the Roman holiday Lupercalia which was the height of wolves mating season.  Male wolves tenderly court the female they want as their mate and bring treats from their hunting to show their ability to provide for her and their puppies.

The Christians kept the holiday but changed the name and spread the myth that the wolf who was revered by many pagans was the evil scourge of their Satan.

NOT A HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FOR WOLVES

Alaska is continuing its horrible extermination of these wonderful creatures in one of the only places where they are plentiful.  The governor of Idaho wants to do the same and has even lined up a program where people could hunt for trophies.  The EPA, after being gutted by the Republicans so they can sell our national forests to the highest bidders, is delisting the wolf as an endangered species so that trophy hunters can shoot down wolves and destroy whole families just to have a head to put on the wall.
