S.H.I.E.L.D. Personal Equipment

Standard Battle Dress Uniform (BDU)

Uniforms and Insignia

Despite the vast range of advanced weaponry available to SHIELD agents, the rest of their personal equipment differs very little from that used by other members of the SGC whether in the field or while on base. With the transfer from civilian command, the earlier SHIELD uniforms were abandonded in favour of standard issue Air Force uniform and indignia for all ranks, although a simplified version of the previous 'utility' suit remains available for certain special operations.

In place of the familiar 'point of origin' patch, all SHIELD team members wear a patch bearing the unit insignia - red, white and blue for enlisted personnel and red, black and gold for officers. Several variations of this insignia are worn by members of the 'ESPer' Division and the SHIELD 'Air Cavalry

Personal Protection

In addition to the standard kevlar 'fritz' pattern helmet and protective 'flak' vest, a personal forcefield projector based on a captured Goa'uld device is available for issue to all SHIELD personnel entering a known combat situation or engaged in any operation where they can be expected to encounter enemy fire. A compact version of the same device is also issued to all 'undercover' and Covert Operations personnel before they leave for field assignments.
