If a not too far off place a man walked around looking for somebody. He traveled everywhere until finally gaining the name of a certain Weyr. He rode his runner there quickly and when he got there the sky was dark and many of the Weyr were long having gone to sleep.

Someone on Watch duty though spoke with this older man. "Greetings! Who are you and what be your business I ask?"

"I am looking for somebody. A girl that should be about 16 now, she has dark brown hair and the same color of eyes. Do you know anybody by that description?"

The person nodded. "I know of one. Her name be Crynia, but she's no longer here. She went to Ryslen to stand as a candidate there."

"Where is this Ryslen?" The man on the runner asked.

"Hold on a moment and I can get you a map of some sort."

The man didn't rest his runner for long and was quickly off to find this Ryslen Weyr after getting a map from the man on duty at the other Weyr.

Meanwhile, Crynia was trying to get used to the new Weyr. It was quite the interesting place. Crynia had met many other candidates and she wondered curiously which clutch she would end up standing for. They hadn't yet decided and she couldn't help but ponder the matter.

Mud and Rain had loved the new Weyr from the start and they made it their top priority to make sure that everybody in Ryslen knew of them in some way or other. They'd fly about peoples heads and eats somebody's food and just try to be little mischievious things.

Crynia took a peek at the eggs on the sands whenever she could, but she always ended up leaving them with little hope and a large sigh escaping her. 'I won't let anything get me down though!" She thought angrily to herself. 'I am a leader, not a follower, I am proud, I am stubborn, and I am ready for anything.'

One night as Crynia was lying in her bed with Mud and Rain curled on beside her Crynia thought she heard somebody sneaking around out in the halls. Curious as to who it might be she decided to stick her head out of the door and look. It was a large figure and quite mysterious. She hadn't seen this person at the Weyr. "Hello?" Crynia carefully asked the mystery person. She wasn't afraid of being caught not asleep or anything of the sort.

The shadow spun around. "Hello." It was a man. "What is your name?"

"Crynia. Why do you ask?"

The man sighed and before Crynia knew what was happening this mysterious man was hugging her. "Finally I have found you, my daughter."

"W-what?" Crynia stuttered and wiggled away from the man's hug.

"Have you never been told? I am your father." He said sounding confused. "You were taken from me when the terrible things happened to our home. I gave you to a brown rider who was supposed to take your to your grandfather."

"My father is R'nel."

"No, I am your father."

"Leave me alone sir, I don't like this little game that you play. I have other things to think about. You cannot be my father for I grew up as the daughter of the brownrider R'nel." Crynia quickly went back into the barracks and shut the door. She went back to her bed and tried to push the strange event out of her mind hoping that it was merely a dream.

The next day Crynia awoke to a familiar voice inside her mind. Morning Crynia! Wake up and hurry getting around, we must speak. R'nel and I flew here, a man claims to be your father. I fear the truth shall come out now.

Crynia quickly got around and was a bit confused, but surprisingly she kept a calm and cool head during the entire explanation of what had happened when she was younger. "Well... Then you really are my father." She said to the older man whom she had first encountered last night. He nodded at her and she turned to R'nel. "But in my heart, you are also my father." R'nel smiled at Crynia and the other man looked curiously around. "So now I have two fathers, but what am I to do? I know what I will do. I will remain here at Ryslen and I will stand. I promised Citieth that I would."

"Very well." R'nel nodded.

"I wish to get to know my little girl once again." The other man said. "Please, will you consider spending some time with me?"

"When my schedule allows me to do so then I will. If you wish I believe that you could stay here at the Weyr, you'd have to ask though. I don't think it'd be a problem."

"No, I shall go other places as well. I have much traveling to do, but I will visit. I am just happy that I have found you. You have grown so much, I wish you the best of luck when standing."

"Thank you." Crynia smiled at R'nel and the other man. "Both of you."

"By the way, my name is Kahlno."

"I do not know what you once called me, but I am now Crynia and I wish to remain Crynia if that is okay."

"You were named after your mother. Her name was Myella, but if you wish to remain as Crynia then you may. Myella would want you to have the name you wished for."

A day or two went by with both R'nel and Kahlno staying at Ryslen to visit with Crynia until duty called both of them away. Kahlno promised to visit when he could and he also said he would try to make it back in time for the hatching whichever one Crynia would be in and R'nel said the same.

Citieth said his goodbye's and gave his luck to Crynia then everybody seemed to leave at once.

Crynia kept to herself for a few days while she went over things that have happened. She spoke with Mud and Rain who helped her in their own ways and Crynia let out a huge sigh on day as she kept thinking. "Life is interesting." She said as she petted her firelizards. "Life goes on and on."

That night when Crynia was lying in her bed just before going to sleep she reminded herself of who she was and what she was like. She would be a leader, not a follower, she is proud she may be stubborn, but sometimes you must stick with what you believe in. And the last thing Crynia thought to herself as she drifted off into sleep. 'I'm ready for anything.'
