Wufei crammed his hands in his pockets as he walked into the video store. He really didn't know how he had gotten chosen to go pick up movies, but he didn't really mind. He sauntered into the store, eyes slowly surveying the racks of videos. He took his time, occasionally lifting up some movie or another and reading the back, slowly walking down the aisles. A woman brushed past him midway through an aisle of new releases. "Excuse me, Fei-chan." "'Scuse me, Meiran..." Wufei said idly, still reading a movie. His eyes flew wide less than a second later and the movie he was holding clattered to the ground. He dashed to the door, seeing the back of Meiran's head as she walked out. Wufei flew out the door and looked around, but couldn't see anything in the midst of the crowded sidewalks. He howled a violent curse. From above him, leaning against one of the gargoyles that graced the building, Imati snickered, having banished his illusion. He was invisible. The illusion of Meiran had been a very simple one to an accomplished mage such as himself. He watched Wufei curse and wildly look around for his wife. // Mortals are so easy... // he sighed as he stretched his wings, lazily lying on the gargoyle's broad back. His gray eyes watched Wufei, sparkling in amusement as the Chinese pilot started shoving through people, looking desperately for someone who didn't exist. "Ah...such determination, such fire...and so cute too..." Imati sighed, idly running his fingers along the ear of the stone monstrosity he was lounging on. A breeze whipped past, whipping his very loose black leather pant-legs, lifting his wispy blondish-brown hair and blowing it around. Imati laughed softly, eyes finding Wufei again and zooming in slightly. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw who was running full tilt down the street straight towards Wufei. Duo Maxwell. Imati growled softly and watched as Duo practically dived on Wufei. Using magic, he enhanced his ears and eyes so he could see and hear them as if they were two feet from him. "Wufei!!!!" Duo shouted, grabbing the other bishounen's shoulder. Wufei whirled. "Maxwell, don't touch me! How DARE you! After all you've done, what makes you think I would ever care to speak with you again?" "Wufei, please, listen to me! This is gonna sound really crazy, but it's the truth! There's a fuckin’ demon after you! A DEMON, Fei! He can change his shape and he posed as me so I wouldn't bother him and tell you anything!" Wufei was looking at Duo as if he had gone mad. His teeth were clenched when he spoke next. "Just stay away from us, Maxwell. I'll pretend I never saw you and you won't be thrown in jail or an asylum where you very clearly belong." Before Duo could say anything else, Wufei turned and stalked off in the other direction. Duo's shoulders slumped. Imati grinned. "Look up." He whispered softly, whispering it right into Duo's mind. Duo's eyes lifted upwards and widened as he saw Imati standing on the broad shoulders of the stone gargoyle. He clearly saw the smirk Imati bore before the demon turned into smoke and drifted away. |
