The Beginning. Decisions, decisions. The search for the perfect control device and platform or stand for it is the primary goal at this point of time. As the device and stand are decided after research (see below),  the first evolution proceeded with necessary modifications and minor cosmetic enhancements.
Thus began

Project Z-spec.
As it is commonly known that Logitech makes the best wheel for the PS2 up to date, I will not elaborate on that point but since many Logitech buyers opted for the blue PS2 GT3 version I will elaborate on why I chose the red PC version over the PS2 version.

Note: The "red" Logitech wheel is the PC version of the blue GT Force wheel. Its full name is Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP and it debuted before the PS2 version.

Synopsis and Argument for choosing the PC WingMan Formula Force GP

1. It is made from stronger materials than the PS2 version (Jpn version at least since I bought the wheel and GT3 when the Jpn version of GT3 was released) overall even though if you look at them side by side they look the same except for the color.
2. The Force Feedback is arguably stronger on the PC version. Reason why I say this is because I tested both the US PC (red) version and the Jpn PS2 (blue and named as the LOGICOOL [Jpn Logitech subsidiary] GT FORCE in Japan) version before choosing the red one. The US PC (red) version was the  stronger of the 2.
3. "Usually" cheaper than the PS2 version. Depends on where it is purchased from.
4. In general easier to find than the original 1st Run PS2 version, because the PS2 one was a limited GT3 version. Although new shipments of the PS2 version without the GT logo is shipping as well as a new model with a D-Pad and buttons on the handles called the Driving Force are available now.
5. Among the blue PS2 GT3 "Limited" version there seems to be a lot of defected products. Quite a number of people have complained about the "lockup" problem. Apparently the wheel portion locks up to the left once in awhile. That problem seems to be non-existent with the Wingman.
6. The PC version comes with 2 free PC racing games. (which you can, and I did, sell for US$20)
7. Dual use for both PCs and the PS2. Two birds, one stone. The Ferrari Red motif is a plus also.
8. One thing I should mention is that some websites "had" deals where you get a set of free speakers with a mini subwoofer if you buy the PS2 version.  But the deal is long over since those first ones seems to be all sold out by now.
Note: First off, I'd like to indicate that documentation of the progress came as an afterthought as I originally did not plan on setting up a site for it at all. These images were originally taken just to show friends who cannot make it here for one reason or another. In addition, since I don't own a DigiCam the only images that I can create easily without using scanners and film is to use my WebCam. The images are low res and these at the beginning are especially out of focus due to less than optimal software for the job.  The later images will improve, specifically after Evolution 2 and Evolution 5. MSIE 5.5 and above is also recommended strongly as page formatting is a problem for other browsers.
Audio and Video
Images for the Audio and Video Setup can be found in the Evolution 2 pages.

For Video a Sony XBR 36" Trinitron with Monster Cable Component input from the Multi-A/V output of the PS2 is deployed for the best and largest image and screen size possible. Projection TVs were not an option, either rear or forward. Only Direct Views are real TVs. HD might have been an option except the standard has not matured fully yet. As CRTs are still superior as compared to Flat Panels as well. The resolutions for these new displays are less than optimal still and with the fact that they might be obsolete with newer technology combined with the price to performance ratio it's just not worth it.

For Audio the setup is a Dolby 9.1 setup powered by 3 amplifiers. Explanation below.
Speakerwise there are 1 center, 2 main front, 2 tweeter cubes hanging under the TV, 2 side, 2 rear, and one subwoofer. A Dolby Digital 5.1 setup is enhanced with 2 additional amps. The 2 additional amps receives output signals from the main receiver. The first amp is a Dolby Pro Logic with only the 2 surround channels deployed. Due to the fact that frequencies for rear channels of the Pro Logic Standard are lower and narrower in range than those of 5.1s, they provide perfect audio for side ambient noises (i.e. engine sound) minus the audio of cars to the driver's rear which are provided in the 5.1 rear speakers. Mounted on the left and right side walls of the room. A third stereo amp with dual mini cube tweeters is deployed with the cubes screwed under the TV monitor acting as forward left and right high frequency "enhancers."
