Alpha Sigma was the first sorority on campus, and is currently the last local sorority. what does local mean? Local simply means that we aren't connected to a national organization. We do the same things as all the other sororities, follow the same rules and work just as hard, we just have to support ourselves. We were named sorority of the year for the 04/05 schoolyear! Our official philanthropy is Saint Judes Childrens Hospital.
		But we do many other volunteer works throughout the year. Such as sending care packages to children with cancer, highway cleanup, Shippensburg street cleanup, and of course the annual Turkey Bowl to name a few. We have an official poem:
				The Alpha Sigma Rose Admist the tumult of the ocean and the granduer of the land a flower blooms gloriously, in stretches of sisterly sand. A beauty so rare as but seen by a chosen few, a beauty of love and friendship cherished by me and you. How green is my valley that I should like to propose a toast of faith and honor to the Alpha Sigma Rose. In service to others myself unfolds like countless petals each petal a symbol of my soul and to grow in purity is loveliness like the rose, an Alpha Sigma Goal
