This page will give you some more knowledge about Shivaji Thapliyal, the person…

Well, the first thing I’d like to say is that one can never know me well enough unless one spends a considerable amount of time with me. Guess that’s true for a good number of people but in my context, what it means is that my external personality can, sometimes, be quite contrary to what I actually am within. Confused? Well, then I suggest that you meet up with me to understand!

Also, at times, I can be quite a showman, trying to capture everybody else’s attention. But at other times, I can keep an uncharacteristically low profile. (Who is the real me? The showman or the shy guy? I suppose you could say I am changeable!)

I am a guy who firmly believes in socializing. If I am not working at something, I am busy networking with my friends. I am in touch with my friends from school and of course, of my college and not to mention, of my colony as well!

On the Two of My Interests page, I have included only music and sports as my interests. I am into other things as well, some of which I will talk about below…

I have done a fair amount of quizzing. I started quizzing at the school level and have continued to do the same in college.

Over the years, I have tried my hand at verse. I was exposed mostly to romantic poetry at school and I have to confess that I did not, otherwise, read any poetry. So, in my works, the influence of the romantics is inevitable. But the urge seems to have died down since I passed out of school. (Perhaps, now, I have come out of the world of the romantics and into the real world.) Still, you could check out some of my poems.

I caught the dancing bug when dad gifted me the album ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, when I was all of 4 years old! I have enthusiastically displayed my own brand of breakdance at some of the cultural functions held at my college.

[I admit poetry and breakdance do make and odd combination.]

I have always had an urge to pen things down (even type them out- as is evident from this site) and have people read (or listen) to them. Back in school, I wrote my essays rather enthusiastically. In college, as a fresher, I wrote articles for my hostel’s wall magazine. As a 2nd year student, I landed the job of Editor of the same wall magazine, a job that I thoroughly enjoyed doing.

I managed to make it to my school cricket squad as a leg-spinner and have also played some intra-school Table-Tennis. Apart from these, I have played, not at any tournament level, a fair amount of badminton and, also, football.
