The fall this year .... MiG-21 crashes in Jamnagar, pilot ejects out

A MiG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a firing practice on January 17 at Jamnagar Air Force base in Gujarat but the pilot ejected out safely.  "The MiG-21 crashed after facing an engine surge while the pilot was pulling out after the practice sortie at Samrat firing range during an air-to-ground firing exercise," IAF spokesperson T K Singha said. Pilot J P S Bains ejected out safely and no one was injured on the ground, he said. A court of inquiry has been ordered by the IAF to probe the matter. This is the first MiG-21 crash this year.
