Careless Citizens....
Some people just don't get it!  Some don't care if they start a fire destroying property, animals, or human lives!  Where are their heads?!
My name is Marjorie Tiner, and this webpage is my personal crusade against all those who throw burning cigarettes out car windows because they don't want them in here, so they throw them out there!
For all the people who are smokers and use car ashtrays to extinguish burning butts, Bravo! and thank you!
For all those who throw lit cigarettes out of car windows, perhaps your license plate numbers will appear on these pages.  If I see you carelessly throw a burning cigarette out of your car, it will be noted.

Seamist Toyota Avalon XLS - DPB-21 21
(NJ Used Car Dealer License plates from Toyota World in Lakewood, NJ) threw her lit cigarette out on Route 24 in Chester, right in front of Alsted Farms as she was driving home to the top of Schooley's Mtn. off of Pleasant Grove Road.  Congratulations, girl!

Blue Dodge 4x4 Pickup Truck - X-268OK (NJ license plates) threw his butt out in front of the Washington Township Municipal Building heading down into Long Valley.  This guy was really clean with his shades and trimmed beard, but alas! a slob.  We still are experiencing draught conditions and the fire hazards are really high.  I managed to ride over the butt with my tires - - putting it out, I hope!

Black Beemer - LYS-34P  (NJ license plates) and although the weather conditions weren't that bad (we had just had some rain), he dashed his cigarette onto the roadway and the sparks went flying!

Black Jeep (V8) - JCF-65Z (NJ license plates) in front of Nordstrom's at the Short Hills Mall.  Classic careless citizen behavior, smoking his cigarette with the window rolled down only pulling the cigarette into the car when he wanted to suck on it.  Arm trailing down the side with cigarette in between thumb and forefinger.  Drop 'n' Drive.  Geez!

Older model car - KEG-37F (NJ license plates) driving Rt. 24 up over Schooley's Mtn. from Long Valley.  Just about where Fairview Avenue hits Rt. 24, the cigarette was tossed with sparks flying gloriously all over the place.  Do you think he cared?  Nope!

Black Chevy Blazer - JHP-32L (NJ license plates) driving West on Mtn. Avenue towards Hackettstown.   At the light and intersection of East Avenue - - blip! right out the driver's window.  Nice, lady!

Blue Subaru - YLW-7395 (Virginia license plates) driving North on Rt. 206 and even though NJ is in a drought situation and the danger of forest fires is extreme, this Careless Citizen threw that butt right out the driver's side window!

Approx. 5pm
"New York license plate: AMS 7562 threw a FLAMING cigarette butt out his window on Saturday evening, at approximately 5pm on the ramp from New Jersey's Route 287 N to 10 W.  The sparks came flying out of his window towards my car, which not only had my whole family in it, but a whole tank of FLAMMABLE gasoline!  Unfortunately I don't remember the make and model of his car.  Go get him!"

Techniques - - You can almost always tell when a driver or passenger is preparing to let one fly.  Several distinct techniques for dealing with a burning cigarette that you don't want in your vehicle's ashtray will be examined here.

No. 1.  The left arm can be seen fully extended out the car window, keeping the smoke as far outside of the car as possible.  Flicking is optional but is usually conducted in a downward pitch.  (typical)
No. 2.  The left arm is almost hugging the door in a downward motion (making it very easy and very sneaky for the offender to just let the cigarette slip from their fingertips.  (usually used by guys)
No. 3.  As colder weather approaches, some will roll down their windows a crack and quickly push the cigarette out while others will wait to roll windows down in bumper-to-bumper traffic to minimize the chill factor.
