“Yes slayer, no slayer, three soddin bags full slayer” Spike swore as he turned the corner in to Giles’s street.  “I’m worse than her god damn lap dog.  All she has to do is click her bloody fingers and I am asking what her freaking commandments are”.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

No body knew, no one single soul knew.  Why did Spike come back?  He liked to talk big, “I’m going to kill the slayer”, but the truth was that he didn’t come back to kill her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Spike barged through the door at Giles’s with a fag in his mouth, as usual, ready to smart crack himself through another ‘fluffy battel kitten’ meeting.  “Watcher, you know you really should lock that door,” Spike said sitting on the couch next to Xander.  He snatched the health food bar he was eating and stuck the whole thing in his mouth.

“Hey” Xander said.

“Bloody hell Whelp, that’s worse than disgusting, how can you eat that?”

“Um, well maybe I like them, and I though you, being a vampire and all, you know.  DOESN’T EAT!”

“You see, that’s what stereotypes do to a person,” Spike stated.

“Luck you’re not a person then” Anya stated.

“Look who’s talking demon girl, so what the new evil for be to beat the crap out of?”

“At the moment there is something that’s troubling me more” Giles said.

“Oh good oh, by the by where’s the slayer?”

“And so we come to the problem” Giles said taking his glasses off and rubbing his temples.  Spike cocked an eyebrow at Willow, who took that as her signal to clear things up for the confused vampire.

“Buffy’s missing Spike” She stated simply. “No-ones heard from her since last night”.

“Last night, didn’t commando boy get back from the great beyond last night” Spike said.

“Y-yes he did, but we can’t get in to contact with him, and it is very unusual for Buffy no to check in with me after patrol” Giles stated.

“Not to mention she didn’t come back to the dorm last night” Willow interjected.

“Ah hello, do I need to draw all of you a bloody diagram, the slayer and commando boy are probably rootin’ like rabbits.  They haven’t seen each other all summer and they’re probably as horny as all hell, Cor I know I would be” Spike spat.

“Yes, um th-thank y-you for that lovely imagery Spike, but I simple don’t think that’s the case” Giles stuttered.

“Yeah Buffy didn’t even turn up to class!” Willow added.

“I do believe that there is reason for concern, it is simply not like Buffy” Giles said.

“Fine, I’ll swing by commando boys room and make sure that he and Buffy are safe and sound and then, I’m going to go and beat something up” Spike said rising from his seat and moving to the door.

“That would be a help Spike” Giles said.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m only doin’ it so I can get some action tonight.  Demons seem to follow the slayer, if I can find her, I’m pretty much assured I’ll get me a good fight”

“Y-yes well what ever your reasons can you please notinf…”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll get her to give you a call to put all of your little minds at rest” Spike said walking out the door.

“I must have done something really horrible to deserve Spike” Giles stated.

Passion, it drives us, it makes us do odd things, and it makes us defy our stereotypes and character.

“Bloody hell, this campus is like a god damn maze, where the hell is commando boys dorm?”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Spike was never quite what you would call a normal vampire.  Giles called him and animated contradiction, and he wasn’t far wrong. He ate, he hurt, he got jealous and he cared.   Spike could love; he loved Drucilla, and now he’d followed in his sire’s footsteps and fallen for, of all humans, a slayer.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Excuse me mate” Spike said to a passing student, on his way back to the dorm.

“Me?”

“Not the other moron, yes you.  Can you tell me where commando boy lives”?

“Commando Boy?”

“Oh umm, Riley… Riley… bloody hell what his other name.  Uh he has a girlfriend, pretty little thing, dangerous though, the Slayer”

“The Slayer?”

“Oh hell, Summers, Buffy Summers.  The slayer is a nickname”

Silence

“From a band”

Silence

“From a band that we were in”

Silence

“Just tell me where the hell his building is”

“Well your looking for Riley Finn”

“Finn, that’s it, I knew it was a pansy name like that.  Sorry go on”

“Go down this path and it’s the second turn on the right”

“Thanks”

He didn’t know how it happened, or even when, but Spike had fallen for the slayer.  The gem of Amara thing was just as he put it ‘to keep her on her toes’.  He had no intention of killing her.  If her did, she’d already be dead.  Spike never did things by half, and he had, had many a chace to finish her off, but he didn’t, or rather he couldn’t.  He watched her, much like Angel, and getting the chip in his head allowed him to get closer to him that he ever thought possible to him.  Sometimes he thought the chip was actually a blessing in disguise.  But then commando poof came along and stole her heart.  He wasn’t good enough for her though, not strong enough for her.  She needed someone Strong, someone like Spike.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Finn” Spike spat at one of the student at a vending machine.

“Sorry?” the student responded.

“Finn.  Riley Finn.  Which one of these boxes is he in”?

“Oh Riley, up the stars third on the left”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It infuriated Spike to see Riley try to please the slayer.  Who was he kidding, he couldn’t please a normal girl, let alone a slayer.  She was strong, and smart, quick and sexy, and Spike wanted her more than anything.  He wanted to surround himself in her and drown in her hot depths.  He could make her happy, he knew that, and she had no soul to lose so she would never have to be careful with him.  But still she never gave him a though.  It seemed to Spike that you needed to have a heart beat or to brood, to make time with her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Spike knocked at the door that the boy on the first level said belonged to Riley.

“Come in” he yelled not bothering to check who it was.

The door swung open and Spike strode in “You know you should probably check who’s at the door before you give an open invitation”

“Hostile 17, to what do I owe this displeasure and your soon to be dust like state”

“Now, now commando boy, I do have a name,” Spike said making himself comfortable on Riley’s bed.

“Yeah and so do I, what the hell do you want, I’m busy”

“The slayer where is she”

“How the hell should I know?  I’m not her mother” Riley spat.

“Oh no need to get shirty, but I’d wager you were the last to see her, and it seems she’s missing.  Giles was worried and he sent me on a detour to you from my nightly spot of violence, so the quicker you tell me, the quick I can go and beat something up”

“I haven’t seen her since last night”

“Well then, you were the last to see her, what happened?”

“I told her…”

“Tick, tock, commando boy what did you tell her”

“I told her I didn’t want to see her anymore, that it was to much for me to handle”

“You what” Spike spat.

“She’s not normal, and I don’t think I can look at her and not see what happened before summer break”

Spike slammed Riley against the wall and through the blinding pain that the chip in his head was causing, managed to stammer out a threat, before storming out of the building.  Spike found the nearest phone and dialled Giles’s number, it was time to panic.  Willow told Spike to go to the Bronze and wait for her there; he hung up the receiver and began to make his way to the youth’s nightclub.  Spike being Spike used the ally entrance to avoid the cover charge, but upon entering the ally, he felt a presence.  The presence of a vampire, and a strong one at that.  Spike replace his handsome human features with his vampiric ridges and slowly made his way down the ally.  “Who ever the hell you are, I don’t have time for bloody games, show yourself” Spike yelled.  There was a rustle of papers from behind him and a small figure appeared from behind a dumpster.

“S-s-spike” the weak and low voice stuttered out.  A voice that Spike knew.  He spun round to be confronted with two golden eyes, filled with tears, set in a ridged face staring back at his own.

“Oh my god” he said as he walked up to the motionless figure cupping one side of her vampiric face and brushing off a stray tear. “Buffy?”
