Grand Canyon Hike
South Kaibab Trail &
Bright Angel Trail
The sun is rising and breaking through the clouds during the first hour of my hike down the South Kaibab Trail.  I actually started down the trail before the sun came up.  It was very cloudy and cold in the early morning hours.  The temperature was about 45 degrees.
About an hour later most of the clouds had burned  away.  The trail starts to switchback down the steep rock layer known as the Redwall.
My first view of the inner canyon from the section of the trail called "The Tipoff".  Even though  I'm still high above the Colorado River I can hear the sound of rapids from this point.
Also a self-portrait of yours truly, Jim Todt,  with the camera held at arm's length.
