Red Diamond Rattlesnake
Crotalus ruber ruber
The Red Diamond Rattlesnake is found only in the very southern part of California and into the Baja peninsula. They take advantage of several types of habitat but seem to favor the lower rocky slopes of desert mountains. This impressive snake was photographed in Hell Hole Canyon at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park , California.
