This horned lizard is more cold tolerant than any other species of horned lizards and has a much wider range north. It can be found in many habitats including grasslands, pine forests, and sagebrush. They have short stubby horns compared to the other species. Horned lizards rely on their amazingly great camoflauge and lie still until very closely approached.
