My work consists of fabric and ceramic pieces that explore the gap between modern constructed identities and our primitive human ancestors. I am interested in the strange things we put in our homes and how they relate back to our visceral selves. I use hand- and tie-quilting, applique and embroidery, as well as thrown and hand-built ceramic forms. My work references traditional feminine arts and biology, drawing from organic shapes found in organs, animals, and food. I am interested in moving off the wall and exploring more sculptural forms. |
