        The Poetry

        poetline

        L I F E

My heart is saddened as I begin my journey alone,

Into a new future I have not yet known.

The darkness seems so bitter and cold as it gathers round me.

The way seems gloomy and long.

I feel unsure of myself, unsteady on my feet.

But then gentle hands slip into mine.

I look up into the face of smiling friends who whisper,

        "I will walk with thee."

Suddenly the fear is gone, I know I can make it!

With friends like you, I will never be alone.

You hold my hand and give me strength.

        The darkness begins to fade.

Suddenly I feel warm again and very much alive.

The winter storm is past, the snow has melted.

The gloomy clouds are as bright as day.

Peace is mine for the taking.

Seeds which had been frozen by the cold,

        are beginning to burst forth

into new life as they are warmed by the sun.

I will come alive! I will kiss the winter and bid it goodbye.

I will grasp the winnowing wind and ride upon the tides.

All around me everywhere Gods blessings are to be seen.

I just can't wait to see what he has waiting for me.

I will color it Holy.and call it Life!

        THAT I MAY BE READY

"Tis in that holy place of earnest prayer,

The inner sanctum, holiest of all,

That precious meeting place with you Lord,

Where Before Your presence on my face I fall

And in Your name for grace and mercy call,

Where I receive the strength I daily need,

And on the living bread, God's word, I feed.

When on that day the trumpet sound I hear

And leave behind the troubles I have known,

The world and all the wickedness and fear,

To reap in joy the seed I have sown,

The greatest joy will not be just alone

Free from all care at home at last to be,

But it will be Your blessed face to see.

Yes,I want to be ready, when that great trumpet sounds,

To enter the realm of the heavenlies,

        where joy of immortality abounds.

Face to face I will look upon the one who paid the price,

As upon the altar of God, He became the sacrifice.

        By my friend.
