Trivia 1. Last Disney movie to be totally hand painted.
2. Ariel's treasure cave included the painting "Magdalene With the Smoking Flame" by 17th century artist, Georges de La Tour.
3. At the start, Mickey, Goofy and Donald can be seen as merman in the crowd of sea-people as King Triton passes them.
4. Both Belle and Ariel are modelled after Sherri Stoner. She has since became both a writer for "Tiny Toons adventures" and "Animaniacs" and also co-producer of the movie "Casper". She even voiced the part of Slappy Squirrel in "Animaniacs". |
1 Ariel and Flounder escape from a shark at the start of the movie with Ariel carrying a bag over her shoulder. When Ursula watches her from her cave, the bag is gone.
2 Just before Eric's statue is uncovered, a sailor's shirt behind Grim changes colour from white to blue.
3 When Ariel is on Eric's ship, she gets licked by the dog on her right cheek. However, she is shown wiping her left cheek.
4 Sebastian gets stuck in a thimble in Ariel's treasure cove but the thimble keeps appearing and disappearing until he manages to throw off everything.
5 In the scene where King Triton destroys the stone statue of Eric, you can clearly see that the statue's face explodes and breaks into pieces as well as the rest of the body. However, at the point a few minutes later when Ariel decides to meet the sea witch Ursula, she caresses the statue's face as a whole again.
6 From the first scenes, Ariel mistakes a fork for a comb due to the 'intelligent' sea-gull. Why does she then place it next to a spoon and knife in her cave? On second thought, I don't really want to know how she uses the spoon and knife on her hair.
7 When Ariel is in Prince Eric's guest bedroom, she lies on the bed for the first time. The scene cuts to Sebastian talking and then to Ariel sleeping on top of the covers. When Sebastian next jumps onto the bed, she's sleeping under the covers. How did she do that?
8 Before Eric's marriage to Ursula, Ariel kicks off her shoes and jumps off the dock to swim to the ship. However, when she climbs onto the ship, she is wearing shoes.
9 When the sun is about to set on the third day and Ariel transforms back to a mermaid, she is shown to be wearing a dress. But when Ursula grabs her and dives back into the sea, the dress miraculously disappears.
