Well, alot has happened since last I wrote anything on this site. Here's a brief run down of the past year or 2. I bought a house & a new (used but different) car. I'm still married (my wife may deny this if asked). I have been the trainer at my work & let that position go cause of stress. I have finally paid off my student loan (thanks Dad) & my pelvis has rotated. If you are actually reading any of this then you already know that, but I thought I'd mention it again cause I like to repeat myself. The newest shit that's going down right now is the HUGE drop in the price of my insurance.I DID NOT CALL GEIKO....YOU ARE THE 306784664 PERSON TO COME UP WITH THAT JOKE....SHUT UP. I was insured for awhile with a local broker who had taken it upon himself to classify me in a high risk group in order to charge my $2480.00 a year for car insurance. This is no small sum. After a couple of years of being fed up with the rates we were paying, the wife decided to shop online where she found a quote from an out of town company for less than $900.00....seemed fishy but we called anyway. We spoke with a very friendly broker from Moncton who was more than happy to look for a good price for us. What she came up with was $840.00 for the year. You have a calculator on your computer...do the math. 2480 - 840 = alot of money in my pocket every month. After getting such a quote, it was decided that we would cancel our current coverage effective the 1st day of september. I call the broker that I was with & the girl working there told me they need a signature to confirm the cancellation & the necessary form was on the back of my copy of the policy, could I bring it in & she would witness the signature & mail it off. I did so. That's when it got really fun. I went in and informed the owner of the brokerage that I had found significant savings on my coverage & would no longer be dealing with him for my auto insurance needs (note here that my house insurance is through the same broker & I did not mention it's cancellation & was going to remain his customer for that service). At this point he attempted to talk me out of switching, in a reasonable tone, pointing out that an error must have been made & I was being misquoted by the new brokerage. I informed him in an equally civil fashion that I felt I was being overcharged for insurance as everyone I know pays less than me for far superior coverage. He insisted that I should stay with him, now becoming visibly annoyed with me, and said he insured me when no-one else would touch me (bullshit). I said he was overcharging me & I don't make alot of money and it's getting hard to pay the rate when it has increased every year since I had been with him. He was getting very annoyed at this point, which annoyed me. He raised his voice & insisted that I was a nuisance every year when I renewed (note that every year he told me "next year yor rates will drop" but they kept increasing) & no-one else will cover me. I have never claimed anything on my insurance...EVER, yet my rate continues to increase. No fucking wonder I'm a nuisance...I dislike being the victim of anal rape and this guy was so far up my ass I had a bump on my head. I began to raise my voice now & pointed out to him that I'm still a customer via my house insurance and asked if this was typical of the service his customers get (any of you insured with this dick know it is typical). This must have made him less than happy as he began yelling at me...really screaming, contradicting himself & insulting me while he tore up his copy of my auto insurance policy in my face, a policy that was still active for the next week. He proceeded to follow me out of his office, continuing to yell at me while his employee mouthed apologies to my wife though the window of the office. I told him several times to shut his mouth or I'd pull my house insurance & tell everyone who will listen about his treatment of a CURRENT CUSTOMER. he continued to yell so I slammed the door in his face & left. I have now kept my part of the deal...I tell anyone who will listen & am in the process of requesting a broker switch. Conveniently the brokerage with the friendly polite & pleasant employees also carries my home insurance provider. Thanks for taking the time to read this & please take a lesson from my mistake. Just because you're told something by a professional, doesn't mean it's entirely accurate & every shithead that gets a chance to, will take advantage of your ignorance. Don't be mislead, research everything & ask questions, information is your best weapon against con-men & thieves. |
