Term Paper

Some days before I accidently faced with the attention-grapping article on IHT; it was about Darfur, Sudan. Languish look of an old woman, holding her baby in her bosom, strongly struck into my heart. The article mainly dealt with the inner-conflicts between Arabic tribes in Sudan, Darfur. Then a question suddenly appeared in my mind; "Why? Why Arabic tribes from Asia are fighting in Sudan, hurting numerous people in Darfur?"

We all have continuously heard of the problem in Darfur; virtually, it can be referred as the most precarious conflict in the world. It frequently appears in newspapers, strring everybody to be aware of it. Even though I too am familiar with the name "Darfur", to confess, I don't have any deep, profound knwoledge on it. Without knowing anything genuine, I have been making insincere remarks, "We have to save people in Darfur, it is really serious!". It is a huge shame, however, that I found my case was not the "one and only". Any of my friends could show a sufficient explanation. So I've made an decision to scrutinize on the problem; by that, I can not only broaden my view but draw other people's real attention.

The word "complex" best explains the situationin Darfur. We cannot organize the situation in a sentence. Intricated conflicts of religions, sects, interests have made the nowaday's situation for more than 10 years. It is not easy to comprehend the situation throughly from the view of noveice. Though, since an abstract, sweet-tasting hyupocrycy cannot make any out of the problem. It is indeed crucial to learn about the history. Thus my term paper will include some histories of the conflict.

With that basic knowledge, we can make the further step along; we can search for the solution, which will "really" help the Sudanese out of the problem. I have no intention to degrade this kind of movement, but only urging for the help with the impending problems, without any virtual solution is actually of no use. I'm not sure the way mine will appear, but at least I believe it is worthwhile to agonize on searching for the solution.

"You can get a Novel Peace Prize on that topic". After having conversation with my term-paper topic, Mr.Johnson told me so. We all are well aware of that the possibility of getting the prize is extremely narrow. But I was really encouraged by his remark since it implies that scrutinizing on that matter is that much worthwhile to do so. Yes, I firmly believe that the Darfur problem would make a perfect term paper topic.
