What do you want to do when you grow up? This is the question we’ve heard numerously since young. Let’s think about it seriously. Really, what is your ‘dream career’? Of course there are clichéd answers: doctor, lawyer, professor, and the list goes on. If you had one of these jobs in your mind, you might have a second thought. The era of 20th century’s jobs is gone. Now is the time to prepare for the job for 21st century in order to keep up with the world. Here are some suggestions for you; followings are the jobs expected to prosper in future. Get some inspirations and work on it!

1. Music Therapist

Everybody becomes happier when they listen to the music; it is a perfect friend to live in the stressful life in modern society. With that in mind, a new job called music therapist emerged, presenting happiness to the people over the world.

There are numerous people who got hurt inside, by the adverse external situation. A music therapist heals mind and body of them through the ‘music’. They provide treatment for physical, psychological, cognitive, and social needs of individuals through the structured and specialized use of music. It is a active psychological treatment; the healing sessions not only include only just listening to the music, but stretches their range to discussion of lyrics, music performance, music improvisation, and even to song writing.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, special education and related services job openings will result from educational reform, legislation, growing public interest in individuals with special needs, and the continued growth in the number of students needing services. With the growing demand in the changing society, the employment of the music therapists is expected to greatly increase. Also, the job is attractive in the way that it is a humanitarian job not only deals with the patients physically but with all the hearts.

Musical talent is not only thing that is needed. If you want to be a musical therapist, you should have the patient, helping personality along with creativity. There are loads of great education institutions for the future musical therapist. Start preparing it from taking various musical classes including the musical theory; the future is waiting for you.

2. Human Resource Consultant

Actually, we’ve heard so much of the “consultants” who concentrate on each one’s field passionately. But, this consultant is different. Human resource consultant took the first place on the survey for the future’s promising jobs. So, who is human resource consultant? As we can refer from the name, the consultant deals with the through area of the human resource field. More specifically, the range which the job deals with starts with finding the talented staffs, to analyzing the works and distributing them, educating them, and eventually evaluating the works of them. In short, the job is concerned with the general management of human resource in a company.

The job is often said to be future-aiming. Undoubtedly, the job had existed before. But it is told to be since the necessity of the job have been continuously rising, and is expected to do so too. The demand for this job dramatically surged with the rise of the idea that the management of human resources is the most important momentum for the development of the business. Since the scope of the job is sundry and wide, the essential elements of it cannot be summarized into a word or two. As a general, however, the understanding toward an organization and human is the common qualification. The knowledge about business and human psychology is needed in that stance. In addition to that, so-called ‘human skill’ is extremely needed. With the skill for communication and human relationship, the consultant can lead the acme of a company. There is not a specialized education institution yet in Korea. However, developing mentioned characteristics will be genuinely helpful for the future career.

3. International Mediator

As the world grows smaller day by the day, the need to mediate unavoidable differences in views between the countries highly increased. We all have seen the importance of the international mediator during the FTA negotiation with the United States. Having a huge negotiating power became a survival strategy for a country. Yes, a international mediator is one of the most demanded job in the international society.

Aside from the national matters such as a FTA contract, the international mediator also deals with the business-related matter. At the forefront of the international business, the mediator makes an agreement and contract with the major foreign enterprises too. Regardless of the size of the matters, the works of the mediators are extremely demanding since it requires a wide range of knowledge over the international world and appropriate applications of it. Being an international mediator is not an easy thing. The international mediator is a professional job requires language skills, expertise on international law and economy. Except for that, a commitment to one’s own nation is a prerequisite for the international mediator. Especially in Korea, people have to pass the civil service examination, or Gosi, to become an international mediator.

People devoted in the field also say that the job is not a comfortable one. Responsibility for the nation, extreme loneliness for making a decision, stress and physical pain derived from the all night negotiation; these are a common works for the international mediators. However, as much as the hardness of the work, the delight gained through the work is huge. The demand on will be on the fire for a long time. If you are an adventurous person, why don’t you venture and pursue for this promising job?
