At May 25 of 2007, the last episode of Pirates of the Caribbean¡¯s trilogy finally released with the excitement and huge expectations of many people. Before the series of movies was produced and released, almost everybody was skeptical since pirate movies were generally considered to be outdated. However, in contrast to common anticipation, the series of movies greatly succeeded throughout the whole world starting from the Black Pearl¡¯s Curse in 2003. Especially, the third one, pirates of the Caribbean was huge hit.
People were completely fascinated by the unusual characters and innovative story plots of the movie. What comes to your mind when you think of pirates? Cruel, power-seeking, plundering ruthlessly¡¦¡¦ Captain Jack Sparrow, the protagonist of the movie, however, is not a typical pirate character. He is rather a comical character who has weird strait and hand sign, always betrayed by his followers, and weird sense of humor. More importantly, that makes people loves Jack! Not only for Jack, other characters like Elizabeth and Will are different from stereotypes of general characters too. Heroine Elizabeth is not meek and passive character who is only waiting for the men¡¯s help but active one who does everything by herself. Will too, surprises the audience by unhesitantly deceiving pirates and using mean ways to save his own benefit. This unexpected twist of the characters makes the audiences fall in love with the movie. The movie is extraordinary in the sense that it is entirely breaking the old traditions and providing freshness, although it has traditional subject matter.
Together with the superb charms of characters, the appealing story plot too is the great advantage of the movie. Continued from the last two movies, the pirates of Caribbean provided us an immense excitement. Dead Jack returns from the world beyond and the secret of characters such as Davy Jones is newly revealed. Any audience must have not been able to keep their eyes from the sea battle between the Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl amid a maelstrom. Appearances of new characters also are interesting; the Chinese pirate Sao Peng and distinctive pirate kings from the whole world indeed brought liveliness. Seeing the pirates cooperating with each other against Lord Beckett is fresh but sad in some way. The only historical fact in the movie-the Britain army trying to eradicate pirates- unavoidably drive the main characters of the movie into predicaments. Jack said, ¡°It¡¯s not that the world is getting smaller, but the world we can stand on is.¡± The frail side of pirates, suggested for the first time, suddenly woke up the audiences from considering the movie as a fantasy of love and dream. Even though the movie is not related with the real historical facts, the completely purged ¡°real¡± pirates of Caribbean leave us something to think about.
Actually, even except all the points mentioned above, seeing the movie was quite worthwhile with the charming actors, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightly. It is true that thhe movie cannot avoid criticism for being too commercial. But, think about the immerse enjoyment and excitement the movie gave to us. It is very natural to waiting for the fourth series of the movie to be produced.
