CALLED THE "PINK CITY" - due to the pink houses, is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. Here, the world-famous Palace of the Winds can be found, which actually is only an aesthetic facade, behind which the ladies of the court used to watch the goings on the streets - unseen. Only few metres away from there, the gorgeous City Palace is located, where among other things, collections of miniatures, weapons and pompous garments well worth seeing can be viewed. Directly next door is the Jantar Mantar Observatory. About 10 kilometres away from Jaipur, high on a mountain thrones the fantastic Fort Amber, which can only be accessed on the back of an elephant.
