High above thrones the sheerly untakeable fortress, while in the city below numerous old Havelis (trading houses) of yellow sandstone can be seen.
Jaisalmer is also the ideal place to take on a camel safari into the desert. Here you are spoilt for choice - choose between a two-hour ride to see a fantastic sunrise or sunset, or a safari of several days (or even weeks) to the far away city of Bikaner.
