Emma Franklin

What type of bike do you ride?

Norco

Who are your sponsors?

O’Neal and Norco do a deal on the bikes.

How did you get involved in BMX and how long have you been racing?  How long do you think you will keep racing for?

Followed big bro’s footsteps and to the doctors tell me I can’t.

What major results and achievements have you made?

1W x 1, 3W x 3, 5W Junior Elite x 1,

1A x 5 (Once in Junior Elite), 3A x 4, 2A x 1, 8A x 1, 4A x 1, 5A Junior Elite x 1

What has been your most memorable moments in BMX?

Winning the worlds for sure.  The feeling when you win is so good.

What has been your biggest disappointment in BMX?

None everything and every race I learn more even when I don’t win so its all apart of training.

What would you say has been your worst crash?  Have you ever had any bad injuries?  If so, how did you overcome your injuries quickly?

I have broken my elbow 3 times and had fingers caught in the chain but my worst crash would have to be in Brazil when I come close to breaking my back.

Who would you say is/has been your toughest competitor?

Kim Hayashi and Samantha Cools.

What are your future goals/ambitions?  Is there anything that you haven’t achieved yet, but would like to?

Make the Olympics would be awesome and win the gold!!!

What do you like most about BMX?

Its fun and you meet a lot of cool and interesting people.

What do you least like about BMX?

Girls who bitch about others!!!

What states have you raced in in Australia?

All of them.

Have you ever raced overseas?

Yes, France, Argentina and Brazil.

Are you planning on racing the World Titles this year?

Yeah I am look out!! lol

What is your favourite race meeting to attend and why?

Queensland at the start of the year because there is always good competition.  To me BMX is not about winning it is about bettering myself so coming 1st does not improve your race skills!!!

How do you think more females could be encouraged to start racing BMX?  How do you think the females that are already involved in BMX could be encouraged to stay in the sport?

Don’t get a big head as it discourages and intimidates other females that are just getting into the sport.  They should advertise BMX as a female sport.  In flyers there are always the pro guys on them why not chicks?

What do you think of the ruling in Australia where you can choose to either race elite or challenge at the nationals?  Do you think both classes should be offered for females or should there only be one class?

No I think it should be offered you can’t offer it to the guys and not the girls cause that is sexist.

Did you look up to anybody when you were younger?  If so, who and why? Is there anybody these days that you look up to and admire?

When I was young Rachael Marshall and Kamahl Lord.  Now all the sprockets because when they ride they love it and still have a smile even if they come last.
