The following pages will describe what I have done to install an air suspension in the Thunderbird. The struts in the front have been replaced with AirRide Technologies ShockWaves with custom brackets. Firestone Airbags take place of the Coil springs in the rear.
The suspension literally has the vehicle floating on air. The ride quality is smooth, and can be compared with a Cadillac or Lincoln, which also use Air suspensions.

Fully raised, the Thunderbird sits well above stock heigth. A range of about 5 inches in front, and over 8 inches of articulation have been achieved in the rear.

When all of the air is let out of the bags, the body hits the ground with a solid thud. The catalytic converters touch down in front, and the subframe in the rear.
