With echoes of Howard Dean's fatigued "Yargh!" reverberating throughout the country, many are getting behind Senator John Kerry as the man to 'take back the White House' for the Democratic Party. However, the Democrats have been so obsessed with fielding a candidate to defeat Bush that they once again are a visionless party. It's tough to see what Kerry and his party stand for amidst the clouds and haze from Bush-burning. On his official website, Kerry says "from the moment I take office, I will stand up to the special interests and stand with hardworking families so that we can give America back its future and its ideals." But wait a second, I'm confused. George W. Bush succeeded one of the most dishonorable Presidents in American history. He reenergized a military that had become demoralized, dissheveled and underfunded during the Clinton Administration. He saw the country through an economic recession that was already beginning during Clinton's last year in office. He reinjected morals into national government. Never once did we see the President on national television denying he had sexual relations with an intern. This President kept his pants on. He hasn't and will never commit perjury against his own government. In crisis he stood steadfast and determined. Bush may be one of the last few American presidents to actually stand for decency and accountability. No one could have handled 9/11 better, and he is a moral and honorable man who believes in God, believes in the triumph of good over evil. He loves his country dearly and would do anything to protect and defend it and its ideals. With this in mind, it is laughable that Kerry would say he wants to take back America's ideals and America's future. We lost both under the Clinton Administration but regained both under Bush in his first term. As Bill O'Reilly said in one of his recent episodes of The O'Reilly Factor, "I predict the most vicious campaign in American history." It is true that Kerry and the Democrats will attack Bush. They will claim he is a tool for corporate interests. The will make him look unintelligent by using big words. They will bring up Enron, Iraq's WMD's, the faulty intelligence, Halliburton. Bush isn't a tool for corporate money. Those who belive so can go back into their right-wing conspiracy delusions. He came down hard on fraudulent corporations such as Enron and WorldCom. Unlike Clinton, we don't have to worry about our President taking gifts and campaign contributions from Communist China. Bush graduated from Harvard Business School. He sounds unintelligent because he's not a politician. He's just a regular man like you and me who wants to see his country succeed. He doesn't try to dazzle and confuse the population with confusing words. He's a simple-minded guy. He didn't attack Iraq for oil. He attacked Iraq because he believed Hussein to be a threat to the United States, and he believed Iraq had WMD's. With or without WMD's, the world is now a safer place. Are there WMD's in Iraq? No, but that's because Hussein had almost twelve years to get rid of them. Regarding the intelligence failure, Bush didn't lie to the American public. When it was discovered that the WMD intelligence could be faulty, he took the blame for the mistake, which was an innocent mistake at that. A mistake based on British intelligence. Once the reconstruction of Iraq was underhand, the United States government did not give contracts to the highest bidder. They hired contractors who they thought will help Iraq recover the quickest from its decades of devastating totalitarian rule. Senator John Edwards, who is only staying in the Democratic presidential race to further his vice presidential nominee status, critiqued Bush's upcoming speech on 'Security or Uncertainty,' saying "The American people want this campaign to be about the future, not the past. I have a whole set of new, specific ideas about how to make this country safer at home and more secure and respected abroad, as well as how to create jobs and get the economy going. That's what we should be debating-- ideas about the future." Ok then, Senator Edwards. Other than opposing the Bush Administration on every issue, what do you stand for? Ah yes, a Democratic White House in 2004. Edwards and Kerry are two peas in a pod, willing to say whatever it takes just to get a Democrat in office. They both play the past card and insist on focusing on our future. Kerry closed a letter to President Bush with "Mr. President, I hope you will conduct a campaign worthy of this nation's future." Ironic for a political party that wouldn't concede the 2000 presidential race, blasted Bush about going after Sadaam Hussein, and embarassed Bush over his daughter's alcoholism and his own admitted drug use. That is exactly what my beef with Kerry and his party is. If Kerry or any other neandarthal Democrat want to go on the record as disagreeing with Bush or having a difference of opinion, then that's fine by me. But those who do so should back it up. Instead of tearing down our President at every opportunity, they should be providing ideas and a vision for America's future. The whole "health care and jobs" routine is total bull crock. Health care and the economy will always be a campaign issue. What the real issues are in America now are the war on terror, homeland security, the deficit, immigration, gay marriage, and keeping taxes reasonable. The entire Democratic presidential nomination campaign was centered around scorching President Bush and mocking his administration from the get go. Every candidate that ran and is running in the primaries is faceless. They use their party's hatred of a Republican White House for their own political gains. They lack ideas and foresight about important issues. For example, when Howard Dean was debating, he said, "Ok, let's talk about God." That quote sums up the entire Democratic Party at this point in time. Lacking a vision and still stingy from the 2000 loss, they will revert to any means necessary just to get one of their guys in the White House. And no matter who their nominee is, I will vote for Bush because I know what he stands for. I don't want a party that ripped itself apart during its own primaries to be in control of our national government. And go ahead and call me politically incorrect, because I couldn't give a damn. I think America is fed up with the type of political game that the Democrats are playing. We're sick of corruption, of nagging and backbiting, of sellouts and copouts. We're sick of party politics and of bickering between parties about the future of the country they think they're representing. We're sick of greed and selfishness, of the enormous hypocrisy that is being exhibited by the Democratic campaign. That is why I will stay true to my word, whether or not Kerry wins. I believe in vision. I believe in common sense. And I believe in the common good of the Republic over political and party interests. By the way, I'm a registered Independent. |
