In the beginning...

Seeking diversions from the routines of office life, six friends with a common sense of adventure set out one summer weekend in 1994 for a new challenge. What started as just another way to spend dateless weekends has evolved into something greater.

The mountains and the time mountaineers spend together has a curious way of forming bonds of friendship. Mountaineering is a different lifestyle. Spending eight hours climbing rocks and boulders, traversing rushing rivers and waterfalls, tiptoeing through rainforests, bathing in icy pools, and balancing on the narrow lip of volcanic crater against howling winds at the fall of evening , speak for itself.

Calling ourselves "Sierra Trekkers Cebu" is an affirmation of the never-ending amazement of what the mountain ranges can offer. It is for us, the world's most varied recreational facility, offering as many attractions, sights and sounds as one can capture . For us, anyone who wants to share the adventure, conquer forbidden peaks, behold regal waterfalls and embrace the beauty of enchanted forests is already a Sierra Trekker.

There are no strict requirements or qualifications to be a Sierra Trekker. The genuine love for nature is more than enough. After all, mountaineering, once experienced, becomes an obsession. (SLL/Sierra)
