Mega CD aka Sega CD
The Mega CD was released by Sega as an addon to the Mega Drive. The primary function of this device was to allow the integration of full motion video into Mega Drive games. You may remember the full motion video games that appeared in arcades during the early 90s, before three dimensional video games took off. Well, the Mega Cd was designed to play them. Early software for the Mega CD was a mixed bag, with many games offering little more than a full motion video introduction to a game that was already available on the mega drive. Despite some early setbacks though, some interesting titles such as Night Trap, Snatcher and Lunar the Eternal Blue demonstrated that the format could produce the goods.
