Open Up And Say...Glam!

Welcome to my glam rock page. I am a person who was lucky enough to
grow up and come of age in the glam era. It all started for me in 1979. As a
little boy, when in a music store with my mother and sister, something caught
my eye right away. It was a Kiss album called Dynasty. I thought they looked
so cool, and had to have it. I begged my mom for it, and she said yes. On
Halloween of that year, I was one of the members, and had a blast. Looking
back, I can see Kiss was before their time. In the early to mid eighties,
other glam rock bands were starting to sprout and become popular. Motley
Crue led the way, along with Ratt and Twisted Sister. Who can forget all the
boys in school writing that familiar "TS" symbol on their notebooks? By 1986,
it seemed as if it was just a short faze, and that glam, and rock in general,
was dying. Then Poison became a household name with their triple platinum
release of "Look What the Cat Dragged In" and Jon Bon Jovi made high school
girls pass out. In 1987, Guns N' Roses took the rock world by storm with
Appetite For Destruction and things stayed great for years to come. Soon, we
would discover groups like Warrant, Whitesnake, Winger, Cinderella, White
Lion, The LA Guns, Skid Row, and many others. While I like all of the above,
Guns N' Roses and Poison have remained my favorites of all-time.
