The above is the poem "Anyway," consisting of eight of the original
"Ten Paradoxical Commandments" (see below) as it appeared on
the wall of Mother Teresa's children's home in Calcutta. The two missing commandments:
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the
smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
it is all between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
The Paradoxical Commandments were written by Kent Keith in 1968, when he was a
19 year old sophomore at Harvard College. They were part of "The Silent
Revolution: Dynamic Leadership in the Student Council", his first booklet
for high school student leaders.
