If you're a frequent visitor to the Device Manager, create a shortcut with this string in the Shortcut tab's Target box: CONTROL SYSDM.CPL,,1 Note the two commas before the number. This line directly opens the System applet and selects tab 1, which is the Device Manager (2 is for Hardware Profiles and 3 is for Performance). Although you can use CONTROL filename.CPL to quickly access some other CPL file in the C:\Windows\System folder, the tab selection (, , x) does not work with all such files.
