BOSS GX-700

The GX-700 is a guitar effect processor from BOSS. It is derived from his big brother Roland GP-100. It comes in a rack package and it has a very nice "oxide copper" finish that is very different (and better) from the aspect it has on the photos found in the Net (where it appears gold finished).
It has 13 effects that can be connected in any order. It can be connected to MIDI devices like expanders, foot pedal units... It is extremely quiet, it has very nice effects and it provides part of the COSM (Composed Object Sound Modeling) libraries of the Roland VG-8 (Virtual Guitar Effect Processor). The GX-700 uses COSM to emulate several famous models of guitar amplifiers and their cabinet/speakers. In this way you can play with interesting results even plugged directly in a mixer or in a PA system without having the "hollow" sound that normally came out without a "real" amp. This is one of the most versatile preamps out there, and you can get a very broad palette of tones, but it will take some time and a lot of tweaking to get some sounds.
