Trueness

Tai was thinking if he should propose to Sora today. For the past week, he was struggling for the answer of the decision. He was afraid that Sora would reject it, but then, would it be over for them? Tai was twirling the ring, which he bought for the occasion, on his finger. Then all of the sudden the door opened and Sora came into his apartment (they both have keys to both their apartments).

“Hi Tai! My goodness it’s cold out there!” Sora said looking for him in his small apartment. Tai heard her come in, he quickly put the ring back into its case and quickly shoved it into a near drawer.

“Hi! Do you need anything?” Tai said with a little bit of a nervous voice.

“No, not really, I just came to see you, that’s it. Oh, um also for the reason that I wanted to see if you wanted to see a ballet performing today? I have to write a review of it for work. Would you like to go?” Sora said , hoping Tai wouldn’t reject. Tai did not like to go to stuff like that. He really did not want to go, but then he thought that that place would be an excellent place to propose.

“Um, sure Sora. Is it one of those ballets that you have to dress nice?”

“Yah, Tai.”

“Ah, I hope I can find my um tuxedo! I think it’s need ironing!”

“Tai, last time you ironed, you burned half your place! Let me do it, is that ok?”

“Sure, Sora. That’s real nice of you.”

“I know.” she said and then gave him a peck on the cheek.

“Oh, Tai I’ll come back in an hour, I forgot something at work. Find your tux, and don’t iron it!” She said then gave a little laugh.

“All right, I’ll find it! Bye Sora.” He said then they quickly kissed and Sora left.

Tai now was thinking. ’I am going to do it today! There is no way Sora will reject! Yes!’

Sora came back, ironed Tai’s tux, and then left back to her place to get ready. “Let’s just meet there. Is that ok?” Sora said.

“Sure no problem!” Tai said gladly because then Sora won’t have any chance seeing the ring in Tai’s car or anywhere else before he would pop the question.

“All right! I’ll see you at the front, be prompt! It starts at seven, so be there at 6:45! Oh dear, I sound like my mother!”

“Sure, I’ll be even earlier!”

Tai was waiting for Sora in the front of the auditorium. He was there since 6:30, and hoped Sora would be there early like him. He waited until 6:50, he started to get worried. He wondered if something happened to Sora, then he saw her head pop up in the crowd and was relieved. He looked at her, she was so beautiful! She wore a long blue satin dress and had her hair up. He could not wait to ask her his question.

“Hey you’re late!” Tai said in a mocking voice.

“ Oh, Mimi called me. There is good news from her!”

“Huh, what?”

“She and Izzy are getting married!” Sora said. Tai was speechless, he was mad, for now it would be a bad time to ask Sora for her hand. It wasn’t the “perfect” time. “Your not happy Tai? Oh, please don’t tell me you’re in love with Mimi, and sad that’s she’s getting married!” Sora said in mockery.

“Oh, no! Nothing like that. I was just thinking about something, uh, something different.”

“Tai are you OK. You seem really down.”

“No, it’s nothing. Don’t worry about me!”

“Don’t worry about you? Why do you say that? I want to know everything about you, I want to help in every way, Tai.”

“Sorry Sora. I was just thinking about old times.”

“Oh, well lets go into the in the auditorium, I’m getting cold.”

“Sounds good!”

Tai was really bored during the ballet. He kept looking at his watch to see how much was left of it. He was thinking why Izzy had to ask Mimi! He wanted so much to propose to Sora TONIGHT! He didn’t want to because then Sora would feel an influential force or something like that. Tai was getting confused about what he was thinking, all he was sure that proposing right now was not a good idea.

After 2 1/2 hours the ballet was finally done. Sora seemed bored by it too; Tai wondered why she didn’t ask her boss for a different performance to be reviewed for her newspaper firm.

“Tai, do you want to go get coffee or something?”

“Uh, not right now I’m afraid that I’ll spill whatever I’m drinking or eating on my Tux.”

“*laughs* Okay! Do you want to go in an hour or something.”

“Yeah, that sounds better!”

“Let’s meet in front of Asterbucks, um in an hour?”

“Yeah...that’s perfect.”

They departed to their apartments, and put on their normal clothes, and in an hour they met where they were suppose to meet.

“Hey, Sora! Over here!”

“There you are! Well, lets get something warm to drink, huh.”

“Yeppers, I’m freezing!”

So they entered Asterbucks, and stood in line to order their drinks/food. Sora ordered Thai tea and a cinnamon bun. Tai ordered Vanilla cocoa and a small slice of chocolate cake. They went to sit at a table near a window. They began to eat and drink the things they bought.

“So, Sora how’s work?”

“It’s overwhelming. I love working at the flowershop (she is the co-owner with her mom), and then I hate writing articles for the newspaper. I think I should just quit the Newspaper and help my mom more with the shop, cause you know I only help her on Saturdays.”

“hmm, yeah that wouldn’t be a bad idea.”

“So how’s your soccer clinic doing?”

“Those little kids are learning great! They might be our next Olympic team!”

“That’s terrific!”

They paused a little so they can eat and stuff. Then Sora put her elbow on the table and slumped her head on her hand as if something is wrong with her.

“Hey, Sora! Are you okay?”

“It’s my head again. I think I’m getting another bad headache.”

“Sora, haven’t you seen a doctor already?”

“Well, I guess I should.” She said.

“You better go, I mean it can be serious! You’ve been having these “headaches” for too long.”

“I doubt it Tai, I think it’s just that I have too much work to do on the weekdays, you know? I’m just overworked.”

“Could be, but you better get it checked.”

“I think I should. You know what? I’m going to head home now, before I get another one soon..”

“I’ll drive you back home.”

“No, no, that’s OK. Besides, I can’t just leave my car here!”

“Sora look, I don’t want you to get in any accident or anything! I’ll drive you home in your car and leave it at your place. Then, I’ll call a taxi to come back here and get my car and drive home.”

“Tai, that’s all right! I do not want you to suffer any annoyances because of me. Besides, my headache isn’t that bad.”

“Sora, listen to me, I’ll drive you home! I’m really worried that you’ll suffer another bad headache spell, crash and then die!”

“Fine Tai, but let me pay for the taxi ri...”

“...no don’t. I have enough money.”

They left immediately and while Tai was driving, Sora sure enough had another bad headache spell. It was that bad that she nearly fainted in her seat. Then 10 minutes later, they arrived at Sora’s apartment and Tai put her up to bed. He sat next to her while she was lying down. Tai touched her forehead to see if she was hot from a fever or something.

“Thank you Tai. I should always listen to you from now on. I mean if I was driving and I had that bad headache spell; I guess I would have died.”

“Sora, it was a pleasure to drive you, I’m just glad that I was stubborn about driving you home. Now Sora, I want you to sleep, ok.

“Sleep sounds like a great idea right now. Tai, could you come back here in morning, so that you can drive me to work, I don’t want to risk an accident.”

“No problem. If you want I can stay, If my car gets tolled, I’ll pay the fee to get it out, trust me, your health is much more important then my car.”

“That’s OK. I have the phone here and other stuff, I’ll be safe. Besides I bet you have to set up the team roster for the little league soccer tomorrow, right.”

“Uh, I forgot about that! I guess then I’ll be in huge trouble with John (the dude that is the boss of the soccer clinics). I better go then.”

“Yes, go. I don’t want you to get fired.”

“All righty, bye Sora.” He said then kissed her on her forehead.

“Bye, Tai.” she said weakly.

**************

In the morning Tai did what Sora asked him to do, he came to drive her to work. When Tai came to her apartment, he saw that Sora wasn’t ready, she wasn’t even out of bed. Tai came to her and tried to wake her up. But, Sora was not waking up! Tai felt her head, it was warm maybe a little bit warmer than it was suppose to be. “She couldn’t be dead,” Tai thought. He then thought, “...this was a result of the headaches... it’s a serious condition...Sora could die...!” After that thought Tai immediately took Sora out of her bed and carried her to his car so that he could drive her to a hospital. As Tai was driving Sora woke up, but she was very disoriented and looked even sicker then she was when she was asleep. When he reached to a hospital 10 minutes later, he as quickly as he could asked for a doctor to examine Sora. The receptionist told Tai that she will try to get a doctor ASAP. After another 10 minutes of waiting, a doctor finally came out and told the barely there Sora to come with him, leaving Tai all alone in the waiting room. Tai was sitting very nervously, hoping that Sora would be OK. The examination was taking a very long time, after an hour Tai looked at his watch and saw that he was late for work. He was panicking even more now. He went up to the same receptionist and asked if he could possibly use the phone to call John, his boss.

“Uh, hi John.”

“Where are you Tai?!?!? You were suppose to be here with the roster! I had to assign the kids!”

“Uh, I’m in the hospital.”

“What?!?! Are you fine?”

“Yes…yes I am. It’s just that my wi.. uh best friend is really sick.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. I guess then your friend needs your support, eh. Well, I’ll let you have the day off. Gosh, you seem like a wreak! Well, come tomorrow, eh, I got to go, Jimmy just hit the soccer ball on the roof, see ya Tai,” then John hung up.

Tai was a bit shocked at himself. When he was explaining the situation to John he almost said that Sora was his wife instead of a best friend. That made him even more depressed.

After about another 10 minutes of waiting, Sora’s doctor finally came out. The doctor’s expression was one of nervousness. Tai knew he wasn’t bringing any good news.

“Tai Kamiya?”The doctor asked.

“Yes, that’s me.” Tai said. Then the doctor lead Tai into an empty room.

“Sora has allowed me to give you any information on her, because you know that only family relatives are allowed to know such things.”

“Yes, I know.”

“Well, Sora has a very serious condition. She has one neurocytoma and with it she has some neuroclonic spasms. Uh, meaning she has a malevolent brain tumor. But, luckily she was brought in before it was too late, so there is a good chance that the tumor could be removed with success Mr. Kamiya.”

“Well, when will the operation start to get the tumor out.”

“Once we get all the Neuro-field Doctors together it will ASAP.”

“How long will that take?”

“Perhaps tomorrow. It takes a little time calling in doctors from out of this city. But don’t worry, it won’t be too late then.”

“Can I see her?”

“Not right now. She is still being examined. I’ll let you know when you can.”

“Alright. Thank you.”

“Not a problem.” The Doctor said, and then Tai left the room more nervous then ever.
