Personality: Generally good-natured, but when it comes to people harming plants, (or his sister, for that matter) he has a thorny temper. He's not exactly very social, though not rude, (normally) and just tends to stay back and be quiet when in groups. He leaves the talking and socializing to his sister. And Idelmi. Especially Idelmi. Since he won't shut up.
Past: Aleic and Etari, though they don't know it, were originally humans. Their mother, escaping charges of treason and conspiracy, wandered deep into a forest with her newborn twins. She died, begging for whatever gods could hear her to save her children. The forest did the rest.
Somehow, Aleic and Etari became dryads, forest spirits bound to identical ash tree saplings. They grew up alone, unaware of their past. Rarely did they even see humans growing up, and they literally had only each other. They lived happily for seventeen years.
That was when the nearest human cities began to clear away the forest to make room for more towns and farms. Aleic and Etari were only dimly aware of what was happening, and were relaxing away from their trees when the foresters came. Before they could get back to their trees, the humans had already started cutting into Aleic's tree. Two thin scars on his cheeks are testament to that event. They could not stop the humans, and they ended up cutting down Aleic's tree.
He should have died then. If he was a normal dryad, he would have. However, as it was, he awakened later, far away from the grove where his tree had stood, just on the edge of the forest. He woke up to an annoying voice in his ear, and found a small, cat-like creature with silky black fur and a red mane, staring down at him and telling him to wake up. The creature, a rukel, introduced himself as Idelmi, and announced that he would accompany Aleic until further notice. It was a while before he realized he was now human; mainly because Idelmi didn't believe him when he said he was a dryad.
Realizing that, for some unexplained reason, he was still alive, he decided to go search for Etari, and followed by Idelmi, made his way back to the grove, where he found his sister's tree had been burned down. He found her a short distance away, also inexplicably human, and startled her when she awoke, until he managed to explain what had happened.
Not knowing what else to do, they made their way to the nearest human town, which just happened to be the one their mother had come from originally. They soon discovered their past and how their mother had died trying to save them. Apparently, she had succeeded. Shortly after that, they were discovered by offworld searchriders and taken to Starburst Weyr to stand.
While there, they heard about the Spring Fling Frenzy, and managed to convince the searchriders that they would be better fitted for that clutch. Etari was given a fire lizard egg (to Aleic's dismay, by an admirer) which hatched into a grassy green female. She named it Melia, and it has stayed with her ever since. Idelmi just thinks it's annoying.

Personality: Happy-go-lucky and cheerful, Etari also has a tendency to judge quickly (and usually favorably) and doesn't really believe there are real bad people in the world. She always wants to believe the best of people, and is perhaps too forgiving, where her brother is not forgiving enough. She's very calm, and loves flowers of all kinds. She enjoys gardening and watching wildflowers grow.
