Name: Rayin-war
Race: Plant Elemental Gender: Male Age: 560 years Abilities: Control trees and thorns, communicate with plants, speed plantgrowth. Appearance: Though he can take the form of a human, Rayin's natural form looks something like a scaly-skinned wolf with tufted fur. His skin is black with deep purple undersides, and the tufts of fur on his ears, tail, and legs is dark green. In addition, he has eagle-like wings with dark red and forest green feathers. His blank eyes are white and never show expression. He has poisonous fangs. In his human form, he is tall and stocky, with golden-brown skin and dark green hair. His hair is cut short and straight, except for two long braids on either side of his face which reach down to his shoulders. His eyes are pale gray. He usually dresses simply, but with style, in dark tones of green and black. Personality: Quiet and sinister, Rayin-war is a mean-spirited elemental who thinks of no one but himself. He's fiercely territorial and ruthlessly attacks anyone who trespasses on his territory. He's clever and quick-witted, often sarcastic and cynical. However, he's also even-tempered and cool-headed. He enjoys going into human cities, because he likes the noise, violence, pollution, and general chaos. |

Rayin-war watched dispassionately from the trees as the noisy humans tramped their way through his forest. His lips curled back in a snarl. Who were these husmans who dared trespass on his land!? His sharp claws dug into the bark beneath his paws, tearing gouges in the wood of the tree limb. In the back of his mind, he could hear the tree moaning in pain, but he paid no attention to it for now.
One of the humans stopped his companions, and they stood talking. The first human drew something from one of his pockets while the others stood far back from where he stood. Rayin growled when he saw the sudden flash of fire which leapt onto the surrounding flora. Spreading his wings wide, he leapt down from the tree, directly above the group of humans. They screamed in terror and pain as Rayin ripped through them with a vengeance. The fire licked at his back, and blood spattered on the lush green leaves. The plant elemental heard the quiet voices of the trees in his mind, and he threw back his head in a howl as the humans echoed their dying screams. The wind blew only ashes through the air as later, the fire finally died down and stopped. Its damage was done, however, and another five acres of forest was gone, destroyed to make way for farmland to feed more humans. It was despicable, Rayin thought. Every year, more humans came and choked the land with their foreign crops, and every year they burnt down a little more forest to clear the land for farms. Every year, a little more land for humans, and Rayin lost a little more of his territory. The forest was dying. Rayin had decided long ago that that meant the humans would have to die first. So far, though, it didn't look like he'd had any success. No matter how many he killed, a dozen more took their place, slowly pushing him and the other denizens of the jungle further and further back. A snap drew his attention, and his eyes fell on a human walking through the jungle below him. Rayin snarled to himself. He was annoyed that he hadn't noticed the man earlier. With all the noise he was making, he should have heard him coming a mile off. He leapt from tree branch to tree branch nimbly, his wings half-spread for balance as he followed the human. Finally, he was directly above the human, and with an earth-shattering howl, he jumped down, claws outstretched, onto the man. A blue blur intercepted him, and he was knocked back into a tree trunk as the creature roared. The human looked surprised, but quickly recovered, as the beast held Rayin down effortlessly with one of its claws. Despite how he struggled, Rayin couldn't move, and he eventually gave him and just glared at the creature. It was huge and vaguely lizard-like, with a leathery, blue-toned hide. It also had a pair of batlike wings attached to its back. Rayin eyed it mistrustfully as the human sighed. "I don't suppose you'd like to tell us why you decided to try to kill me?" The human said. Rayin, naturally, didn't bother to answer. "I thought not." The man sighed and looked to the other creature. "Rigelth?" Rayin was startled to hear a voice inside his head. He's the one we're looking for. The man nodded. "I was afraid of that. Why don't we just drop him off someplace and get it over with? If we're lucky, he won't be able to find his way to Darkling Dawn." He said hopefully. We could. The creature said doubtfully. They looked at each other. "Bipedra?" Bipedra. Rayin had no idea what they were talking about, but they didn't bother to tell him, anyway. Nevertheless, he found himself at a place called Cy Dragonstake, with the residents regarding him with less than affectionate looks, which he wholeheartedly returned. Until he thought to take his human form, so most of them didn't recognize him. He didn't know what he was here for, but he ended up standing for the Bipedra clutch somehow. And he intended to find this Darkling Dawn place... |
