The itinerary was: Venice (On Sunday with the departure scheduled at 6pm), Bari (On Monday from 11am to 2pm), Katakolon (On Thuesday from 8am to 1pm), Malta (On Wednesday from 8am to 2pm), Naples (On Thursday from 8am to 2pm) and Genoa (on Friday with the arrival scheduled at 9am). The Katakolon’s port of call was rescheduled with Corfù because in Katakolon is started the construction of the new pier scheduled to be ready for the next summer season.
About cabins my parents had the 8270 with balcony on the deck number 8 at aft and my uncles the 8277 near my parent’s one. About cabin’s size they were very happy because it was large and comfortable with a sofa in front of the double bed which became a divan bed for the third people in this category. Balcony is very large with a wood table and two deck-chairs. Naturally the panoramic view from this balcony is terrific also because it is the highest deck where there are balconies’cabins; during the navigation there is no wind and even if the temperature is not very high is possible to seat out. Even if cabins are under the pool deck there weren’t any noises and people over it aren’t able to see directly the balcony so the privacy isn’t canceled. The only negative thing, above all for women, is that the toilet-table with its mirror is very little and it difficult to use. In the cabin there are also some little vibrations due to the azipod system but it is only a little problem at night when there aren’t any other noises. The service for this category is the same of the others, only for suites is programmed a different service.
About the Tiziano Restaurant and Botticelli Buffet the service and the food quality was all very good. They had the first seating at 12am and 7pm and they ate all days in a very good way and the service was fast, problems connected with the galley organization which I had in my July cruise were canceled (for example in my cruise escalators didn’t operate and waiters had to spend more time for the service). My parents had a table for 6 with my uncles in the center of the restaurant on the first floor and their waiter and the bus boy did a good work.
I have to say a VERY IMPORTANT THING: on the first floor of the restaurant, when you enter and you see in front of you the sculpture, if you look on the left you’ll see a little room with about 20 tables wich is used as the other parts of the restaurant but if you have the table here you don’t see anything about the restaurant room. My parents met some people with their table in this room and they said it seemed to be in other place of the ship and during the gala nights they didn’t see anything about the chef’s presentation or surprises… Buffets were good with a lot of variety and Pizza was available 24 h; for breakfast, lunch and mid afternoon there were every day new dishes and always pasta or international dishes. One night they went for dinner also in the Club Atlantica where they ate special menus with a fee of $15 per person with a different service organized by Gualtiero Marchesi’s staff. They had a very good dinner! I suggest to book it very early to be sure to find place in the night you want and in the table you prefer. My parents said a lot of people didn’t find place…
About the ship’s staff all was good without problems, from the embarkation which was very fast organized by the call-number of check-in to the disembarkation in Genoa organized by baggage colored label. About theatre’s show they said to have seen very spectacular shows and some of them for the first time. The animation was good and well organized during all the day.
About ports of call my parents were happy because in Corfù, Malta and Naples had fantastic organized tours even if weather was rainy. About Bari they were happy because ship stopped for more time for the change of itinerary, so they had time to go to Alberobello and to visit Castellana Grotto. They went to Achellion in Corfù, to La Valletta in Malta and to Capri isle in Naples. In Bari they went without Costa’s tour.
For information their cruise director was Kiko Verdecchia but I think for caribbean season will change.
In few months, from my July cruise to this cruise I understood a lot of things on Atlantica got better and I think it is ready for Caribbean Season. If you want receive more specific news or info write me, I’m happy to help you!
