MS Seawing

We cruised on the MS Seawing 12-26 June for our 25th anniversary and visited Volos, Lesbos, Istanbul, Kusadasi (for Ephesus), Rhodes, Crete, Athan, Santorini, Kos and Marmaris.

We had booked a superior outside cabin but ended up with a family cabin with a bedroom, sitting room and two bathrooms. The rooms were kept impecably clean by Triono our Indonesian cabin boy. As the Seawing is old (almost 30 years) she was a bit noisy at times but we got used to it.

The food was excellent, be it buffet or waiter service with plenty of variety - you always knew that if you missed a meal something else would be along soon.
We got to 3 midnight buffets - 2 chocolate (chocoholics dream) and 1 gala, all of which we excellent.

Bar staff were always on hand to serve drinks and were very friendly with it. The drinks were expensive - 90p for a can and £1.10 for a small bottle of water.
We discovered a water fountain down the corridor from our cabin on the second week.

Entertainment was good and the variety of activities for those who wanted to be active all the time was excellent. For those who just wanted to sit in the sun, there was always somewhere to sit. I thought the pool might be a good idea one day but I didn't realise how cold the water was nor how shallow. The pool is quite small - a plunge pool really.

Some of the excursions seemed like real value for money as they included entrance fees to things like Ephesus, Topkapi Palace and the Knossos but others seem to be expensive to ride on a bus up a mountain to look at a couple of villages.

Overall we really enjoyed our first cruising experience - so much so that we have booked another for October next year, when we'll have cleared the credit card from this one. It was wonderful to see places that before we could only dream of, such as the acropolis. It took me some time to talk my husband into this first cruise but next to no time to talk him into a second. He has also been talking Caribbean too.

We feel that in general Sun Cruises/Airtours offer excellent value for money and are well worth it for all ages, families included.
